LRR Load-Bearing Gratitude Wall
December 8th, 2015

Posted by Paul

Hey Everyone! As you may have heard, LRR is going to be moving to a new office in January. The new office, dubbed The LRR Orbiting Underground Moonbase Delta is going to be bigger, nicer and have much more room for activities, such as AFK streaming. Our ability to make this move is due in no small part to our amazing Patreon contributors and so we wanted to show our appreciation by immortalizing our more generous supporters on what we are calling the LoadingReadyRun Load-Bearing Gratitude Wall.

Anyone who has supported the LRR Patreon for at least $150 in total by February 2016 will be included on the wall and their names will be remembered for all time (or at least until the Moonbase is destroyed by rampaging moon monsters). Incidentally, if you have pledged at least $10/month to the patreon since we started it in December 2014, you don’t have to do anything. You will have pledged a total of $150 by February 2016 and therefore be automatically included.

Note: When we made this plan, we assumed that your total contributions to a patreon campaign would be easily viewable on your user page. Sadly, it turns out that you have to add the months up manually. For your convenience, I have made a little bookmarklet that will automatically add up your contributions to all the patreon campaigns that you support. You can read more about it and get it from my blog: Patreon Pledge Totals

LoadingReadyRun is doing a Kickstarter!
September 13th, 2013

UPDATE: The KickStarter is now live! Please check it out, here!

LRR KS 577

If you were at the LoadingReadyRun panel at PAX Prime, you no doubt heard that we had decided to do a Kickstarter now that the service is available in Canada.

While we revealed a few things about what we had planned, we kept things vague in order to make sure everyone found out the full details at the same time, from the same source. Of course, it takes time to set up a Kickstarter and have it approved, so we apologize if you’ve been waiting with baited breath to finally find out what we have planned. Assuredly, we are just as excited as you are!

But guess what? Our Kickstarter is now approved, and we will be launching it on: Saturday, September 14, at 7:00 pm PDT.

To celebrate the launch, and to A any Qs you might have, we’ll also be doing a livestream on our Twitch channel – twitch.tv/loadingreadyrun!

P.S.

It is not to fund a hostile “Yummies Corp” takeover of Wizards of the Coast. There are no reward tiers that involve me getting a tattoo of a butt on my butt. Sadly, there are also no “Kathleen and Graham adopt all of Baxter’s siblings” stretch goals either.

Sh*t People Say
February 7th, 2012

Sh*t LRR fans say: “Oh hey the new video is up”

LoadingReadyRun: Sh*t People Say
Unskippable: L.A. Noire
Checkpoint: Tera-fied

So, as Graham will note in the intro to this video, “Sh*t People Say” marks another fine entry in the list of videos where LRR arrives at a meme so late that it’s essentially been beaten to death already. But an old, tired premise has never stopped us scraping the bottom of the barrel before, and it’s not going to stop us now either!

The premise of this video was to, in equal parts, do a parody of the meme, capitalize on the popularity of the format to have some geeky fun, to bring the meme to it’s ridiculous conclusion finally putting it to bed, and to pretty much just do a “Sh*t People Say” video. I’d say we managed to succeed on most of those counts. A number of people in the various comment threads have made mention of the fact that they subconsciously added the X ways to Y music to the video, but I’m tempted to say that it almost strikes me as more of a Rapid-fire. Maybe a bit from Column A and a bit from Column B.

In other news, if you’re interested in some additional content to feed into your eye-holes, please note that Loading Time is henceforth going to be a recurring feature on The Escapist. New Loading Time columns and videos will update every Thursday, so make sure to check those out!

One final thing, our MtG Phases t-shirt is now available on the LRR Store. If you didn’t manage to grab one during pre-orders, now’s your chance!

Cheers!

All you ever wanted to know about PAX Prime 2011 (but were afraid to ask)
August 17th, 2011

Well kids, it’s that time of year again. PAX Prime is a mere nine days away. By now, hopefully, your plans are made, and your hotels are booked – all that’s left is to find your way to the Washington State Convention Center next Friday, and take in all the Convention has to offer. For those of you attending PAX for the very first time (and for those of you not attending for the very first time, actually), I strongly suggest you check out the official PAX Website. The convention schedule was posted at the beginning of the month, and if you’re not sure what’s in store for you, there are few better ways to find out. Are you interested in Panels? Screening blocks? Concerts? Wandering the show floor? Meeting with your favorite internet personalities? The schedule is the place to look to plan your weekend.

Additionally, no matter your preferred flavor of convention experience, LoadingReadyRun should have you covered on nearly every count. The whole of the crew will be in attendance at the con, (with the sole exception of Alex, who’s heading off to Ontario to attend Fan Expo to promote his new project ‘Shards’) so you’ll be sure to see us around. On top of that, we’ll also have a table in Bandland, where we’ll be selling merch and signing autographs (and yes, we do intend to have Season 5 and Crapshots DVDs with us, though that depends on whether or not we receive them on time from the printer). It’s also very likely that we’ll arrange a LRR fan meet-up at some point during the weekend, but as usual we have not planned a time and date in advance. You’ll want to follow the @LoadingReadyRun Twitter account, or check back here during the con for more information. Finally, we’ve also got panels and a screening block! The information for those can be found below:

The LoadingReadyRun Panel
Unicorn Theatre
Friday 9:30pm – 10:30pm

LoadingReadyRun, producers of Unskippable, CheckPoint, Feed Dump, ENN & Daily Drop, and organizers of the Desert Bus for Hope fundraiser, will delight and amaze you with new videos and answers to your questions! Come hang out!

LoadingReadyRun Movie Night!
Unicorn Theatre
Friday 10:30pm – 11:30pm

Join the whole LRR crew for some of our favourite vids and other fun stuff. We’ll all be there to hang out and answer your questions. If you missed talking to us during our panel, we’d love to see you here.

Escapist Movie Night
Unicorn Theatre
Saturday 10:30pm – 11:30pm

Meet the stars of The Escapist’s Loading Ready Run, Extra Credits, Unskippable and more at The Escapist’s Movie Night. You’ll see never-before-seen videos from The Escapist’s most popular web series, including Zero Punctuation and The Big Picture. Plus see favorite episodes from Extra Credits, Unskippable, Daily Drop, Feed Dump, Escape to the Movies, Miracle of Sound, Jimquisition, No Right Answer and more, hosted by Extra Credits’ James Portnow, Loading Ready Run and the staff of The Escapist.

What Women Really Want
Kraken Theatre
Sunday 11:30am – 12:30pm

Join Trina Schwimmer, founder of GamingAngels.com; Kathleen de Vere, star of LoadingReadyRun; AJ Glasser of Inside Social Games; and Tracey John, regular contributor to The Daily, as they discuss what they embrace in female fictional characters and why these attributes are important. They will identify their favorite characters and how they would like more heroines with similar attributes integrated into Geek culture. This fresh, positive approach to female characters shouldn’t be missed. Moderated by Susan Arendt, Senior Editor of The Escapist.
Panelists include: Susan Arendt [Senior Editor, The Escapist], Christa Carter, Brittany Aubert, Kathleen De Vere [Actor, LoadingReadyRun], AJ Glasser [Journalist, Inside Social Games], Brittany Aubert [Associate Producer, 5th Cell]

Gaming as a Lifestyle
Serpent Theatre
Sunday 4:00pm – 5:00pm

Flying in the face of criticism against video games and their ruination of lives, this panel will address the topic of living a life made richer by playing games. From how to keep your job while supporting a game-playing habit, to making your game-playing habit your job. Graham Stark, Jeff Green, Ian Dorsch and James Portnow will share secrets and personal stories, deflate hype and participate in a detailed Q&A. Moderated by Russ Pitts, Editor-in-Chief of The Escapist.
Panelists include: Russ Pitts [Editor-in-Chief, The Escapist], James Portnow [CEO/Developer, Rainmaker Games], Ian Dorsch [Musician – Zero Punctuation, The Escapist], Jeff Green [Journalist/PR, PopCap], Graham Stark [Writer/Actor, LoadingReadyRun]

We’re really looking forward to the con and to seeing you all there. PAX is always a blast, and we have no doubt that this year will continue that trend. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot a message to our twitter account or to post it in the comments below. Internet access is always a little spotty while we’re in the states, but we’ll try to keep you all as up to date as possible about our various goings on throughout the weekend.

See you soon!

Update: I’ve just been informed that there will be a Magic: The Gathering party hosted by Wizards of the Coast on the evening of Saturday, August 27. It’s a safe bet that most, if not all, of us will be in attendance.

Ascend into Darkness – The Magic Innistrad Party

Seriously, you definitely want to be at this party on the evening of Saturday, August 27. You’ll be able to earn an invitation by participating in PAX Prime. Stop by the Wizards of the Coast booth for details!

LRR Store Update (Canada Post Strike)
June 15th, 2011

Posted by Paul

Important Site News:

We regret to inform you that Canada Post has made the decision to lock out striking postal workers and suspend mail deliveries across Canada.

As LRR ships all merchandise orders via Canada Post, this means until the strike is resolved, we are unable to accept any new orders through the LRR store.

What does this mean for you?

1. As of June 15, the LRR store is not accepting any orders for DVDs, shirts, pins, posters, patches or buttons.
2. Even if the lockout and strike are resolved quickly, the resulting backlog in mail volume could mean additional shipping delays after mail service is resumed.
3. Packages currently in the Canada Post system (ie, they have left the Moonbase, but have yet to be delivered to you or your country’s mail service) could experience significant delays due to the suspension of service.
4. We will still be selling merchandise in person – we will have a selection of shirts, DVDs and other items for sale at the Calgary Expo. If you live in Victoria and would like to purchase items in person, please email [email protected]
5. If you do not live locally, but still need to have LRR merchandise, contact [email protected] to inquire about courier (ie, FedEx, DHL) options.

We really appreciate your patience and hope to have the store up and running again as soon as it is possible.

Thanks!

The LRR Crew
