Tell me about the time you met Lars Gerhardt

This week we seem to have created a new LRR meme. If you’ve seen this weeks video, I’m sure you know what it is. If not, maybe watch it. But, I assure you, I’m doing great. Everything is peachy. Wonderful. Neat. Splendid even. Everything is fine.

Meanwhile on Unskippable, poor Michael, one of the GTA 5 protagonists is not fine. You might even say he’s having a mid-life crisis. Things just aren’t going well for him at all. But you know what’s amazing? That Graham and Paul missed a chance to make a Tangerine Dream joke in Unskippable!!!! Nevermind that I would have been the only person to laugh at it. I would have found it really funny. Oh well. It’s FINE.

In other news, last week’s CheckPoint+ Upsample Fall is finally online after a bit of a program-switch induced delay. Remember, when you’re releasing a bit, next gen game, it’s not the resolution that matters, except that many people will get mad at you because resolution is actually the most important thing in games ever.

Y’know, I’m certainly not one for flashy graphics and whatever, much prefer a solid story and gameplay that I actually want to play, but I think the issue with Titanfall (at least on Xbox One), is that Microsoft doesn’t ever shut up about how “Xbox One is true next-gen super mega resolution best ever, seriously you guys!” And then multiple reports come out about how the PC version is (not even getting into the dumb “PC ‘MR'” crap..) much better quality.. And all those multi-platform games that were 720p upscaled on Xbox One, yet full native 1080p on PS4.

Yes, Microsoft, really showing how “next-gen” is supposed to look..

  2. I would’ve got the Tangerine Dream joke; they did the US soundtrack for Legend, which my girlfriend owns!

I agree with Matt; I think it’s funny that Microsoft kept pitching the necessity of new hardware, yet didn’t choose hardware powerful enough to consistently get 1080p, the native resolution of just about every TV made nowadays, when we’re on the cusp of *even higher* resolutions becoming common. By the time this console generation is winding down, it seems like 4k will have a pretty decent marketshare.
