So, while we wait for our mysterious “new thing” to go live, I thought I’d let you know that this week’s LRR video has gone live. You can watch it here.

You may notice the return of a certain devilishly handsome friend of ours in this one so you really ought not to miss it.

Unskippable is live now as well, and you can find it here. Today’s cutscene comes from the game Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper.

Cheers, folks, and check back soon for news about our “new thing” here when it goes live.

Hi everyone, we’ve got some important news regarding ENN that you ought to be aware of. Unfortunately, we have to report that effective this week, ENN will be discontinuing updates. Fear not, though – the spirit of ENN will live on! After trying out the ENN Newsroom format, we listened carefully to your feedback, and over the coming weeks will be looking to take what we’ve learned and use it launch a new series in a similar vein. It won’t be ENN, but we’ll work hard to make it even better.

We’d like to thank the fans of the show (in all of its various formats) for enjoying the work we’ve produced, and we’d like to thank The Escapist for giving us the opportunity to take our idea and make it real. We’ve had a blast putting ENN together over the course of its run and we hope you’ve had just as much fun watching the results.

Going forward LoadingReadyRun, Daily Drop and Unskippable will continue to update weekly on The Escapist, and we’ll continue to work hard to bring you many more laughs.

Cheers.

Today’s (or rather, yesterday’s [see: hole in time]) video reunites much of the Action 9 news cast, who have appeared in LoadingReadyRun videos since 2005.

Brain Evans, Bud Hendricks and Chip Musgrave (who has been a weather reporter and a statistician, and an Olympic commentator, and sounds quite a bit like ex-poker champion Danny Frieberg) first appeared in Slow News Day, as did Hal Johnson—who is mentioned in this video but never shown. Laura Holly first appeared in Save Our Games from 2009, and is in no way related to Natasha Strong from The Secret Life of Toast. Mark Dawson appeared in Dinosaur as a reporter, and became an anchor in WGA, No Way! Reese Filbert, Edgar Frost (who looks shockingly like Hal Johnson, sans beard, and a bit like rightwing pundit Ross Hartas from Max Effect), Ted Smithe, Karen Walnut and Ryan Albertson (who, again, looks like a slightly older, more beardy Steve Clark from Slow News Day, and Sounds a bit like Rich Murdoch from Poker Before Dusk) round out the cast as new entries.

Those looking to watch more Action 9 videos can find out more about them from the LoadingReadyRun wiki … Though the list is slightly out-of-date at this point (hint, hint). Also, thanks to everyone in the community who’s put so much work into updating the wiki. We’ve noticed; you’re awesome.

News Post: Lots to Talk About
April 13th, 2010

So, in my blog post yesterday I mentioned the fact that I’d have a substantial announcement to make today. Well, that has quickly turned into three announcements, so I may as well throw them all in here.

First off, here’s the thing I had planned to announce: LRR will be at w00tstock in Seattle and Portland in May. If you’re active on the forums, or noticed our little Twitter widget in the sidebar there, or follow Paul & Storm, you probably already know this, but the announcement had to be made official. Now it is.

While the crew was at PAX East, we had a very nice chat with Wil Wheaton and Misters Paul and Storm, and they invited us to be a part of this awesome show. Since we’d pretty much planned to attend as audience members anyhow, we jumped at this opportunity. We haven’t hammered out full details yet, but we’ll be showing a couple of videos and hanging around in person. Other guests and performers at the shows include Paul & Storm, Wil Wheaton, Adam Savage, Molly Lewis, John Roderick, Stephen “Stepto” Toulouse (who just got the cutest damned puppy I’ve ever seen), and Frayn Masters. This should be one hell of a show, so if you can make it to one, don’t miss out. (And buy your tickets soon! They WILL sell out.)

Secondly, you may have noticed our very special stinger after the video yesterday.  Well, she said yes. Congratulations to forum members Wraith and TheRocketSiobhan on your engagement!

Our final news item of the day is one you’re probably aware of if you’ve been on our forums or are a frequent user of The Escapist.  As of this morning, the big E has rolled out a new subscription program called “The Escapist Publisher’s Club”.  For $20 a year, you can now subscribe to The Escapist and gain access to special perks and premium content, including high quality and mobile video playback, behind-the-scenes features, and ad-free browsing. If you’re not interested in subscribing, don’t worry: none of The Escapist’s free content has been rolled into this program, only bonus features. If you’re on the fence, though, just remember that your support of The Escapist benefits us and our content in a very real and effective way.

That’s all for this week!
