Re: How did you come up with your username?

This has been my name since the old AOL dial up days, probably sometime around 1995.
It is a combination of my first name and my last initial. I threw the 5 in there because I am the 5th Theo P. in my family.

Re: St. Louis Meet-up

I would love to hang out with you guys. I am free all of those days mentioned above with the exception Friday night when the weather is good, but whatever works best for the most people is good. For those looking to come down from Chicago you should look into Amtrak. When I was going between Carbond...

Re: Texas Board of Education; "Rewriting history as we see fit"

As for claiming that Pearl Harbour was a surprise or not, it all depends on how you look at it. The US had cracked the Japanese Navel codes they used at the time (they switched codes later), and the intelligence had figgured out that something might be a bit fishy. While they had information; it wa...

Re: Texas Board of Education; "Rewriting history as we see fit"

Well technically speaking there is kind of a standard in the US, a good bit of high school curriculum is geared towards getting high scored on the ACT or SAT in addition to whichever standardized tests each state uses (ISAT, IOWA, etc.). These scores have been used to judge how effective a school is...

I would love to pilot this thing. We built an entry level hovercraft in high school and I tell you what, it was one of the most fun things I have ever done.

Re: Introduce yourselves! (A friendly topic for new members)

Hello all, I have been lurking for a while and made a few posts, so I figure that I should properly introduce myself. My name is Theo and I am a recent grad of SIU -Carbondale with a bunch of engineering degrees. (3 to be exact) I now reside in the town of Swansea, IL which is a little east of Saint...

EA is pulling the plug on "older" game servers

I came across this article while doing my daily blog sweep: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/04/ea-pulling-plug-on-aging-sports-games-servers/ I find it a bit unsettling that a major publisher would yank online support for games that are a little over a year old, especially when the online component i...

Re: TSA: Totally Shit Agency?

A flaw in the us rail system is that after air travel became cheap it focused less on passenger service and more on shipping freight between distribution hubs efficiently and cheaply. One result is AMTRAK not owning any of their own trackage and passenger trains being forced to wait on sidings while...

That was an amazing video. It made up for not being able to see the peanuts cartoon this year. you know, I recently heard of a new-fangled invention. The technology is pretty new, so you may not have heard of it before, but it's called "video recording". Yeah! I know! Apparently you can n...

I thought it was a school project at first but following the link in the description leads to a site where you can download a demo or buy the game. It looks to be a real game in the vein of MS train or flight sim.

I had not seen that video but this one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FP1yddiEzpQ ,showed up in my youtube suggested video list.

I can't tell if the website for the game is legit or just an elaborate hoax. If it is legit someone spent way too much effort on this.

Re: College Food

Call me dull, but for a late night thing just a pat of butter and a dash of salt on some noodles sounds good. As for condiments, i.e. butter, katsup etc. I got in the habit of smuggling a few packets from the dining hall each time I went until I had a small stockpile built up.

It also may have something to do with the Doctor using the TARDIS, although unlikely. I'll submit the evidence that in "Father's Day", the TARDIS is thrown out of the paradox and the Master saying that the TARDIS is strong enough to keep the Universe from collapsing in "The Sound of ...

Re: Doctor Who: Waters of Mars

There was an actual paradox in "Father's Day". Rose only travelled back to Pete's death because he died. Saving him causes a paradox which is why the Reapers came. The Doctor would've been on Mars whether or not Adelaide lived. Just went back and re watched "Fathers Day" and you...

Re: Doctor Who: Waters of Mars

Additionally, the ending really bothers me, for some reason. So the captain's dead in her house, a suicide. How do the survivors explain how they got back, and why the captain is dead? I just can't imagine it working. Will there ever be a colony on Mars now? The news article covers that. In the cor...
