LRR and Desert Bus would not be what they are today without him.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
In almost all cases, changeling is just shorthand for having every single creature type printed on the card. So, if it would work with a card that has the creature type physically printed on it, it works with a changeling. The main difference is something like Snakeform , which causes creatures to l...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
I have a question on how Zealous Persecution works. i just had a game where i had a Voice of Resurgence with 1 damage on it and my opponent cast Zealous Persecution. the Voice dies of course, but my opponent claimed that since i had no other creatures out, the token Voice creates when it dies, woul...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
If you're playing in a casual match then your fellow players probably won't have a problem with it unless there is any way to tell the cards apart physically on either side or visually from the back. Selling them I can't really comment on, but I'd be very wary of it since it could get you into troub...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Also question for a judge: If you have Enchantress's Presence and Enchanted Evening in play, you don't get to draw cards for everything that ETB, right? I think that because Presence specifically says spells, and Evening makes it so that the permanents aren't enchantments until they're already on t...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Points are awarded for the matches you win, not individual games. So if you draw every round you'd end up with as many points as there were rounds.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Thanks for finding that, korvys. That's the rule I didn't have time to search for last night. It wasn't always like that, it used to be that whoever controlled the effect that created the tokens would be the owner, but that would make cards like Ravnica's Hunted creature cycle quite counter-intuitiv...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Edit: Doh, I should probably read both parts of cards. Let me try that again... If you choose the draw cards mode: The game ends in a draw. The resolution of Fascination makes everyone attempt to draw a card from an empty library so everyone will lose the game the next time state-based actions are c...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
I can't think of a way that you'd be able to activate the abilities of any card if it's face down, exiled or otherwise (Morph doesn't count). If the effect that exiled the elemental face down doesn't turn it face up then I don't think anything else will. Basically, if it's face down, you can't activ...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Short Answer: You can do one or the other. Not both. Long Answer: The chain cycle, including Chain of Vapor create copies of themselves, which will be placed onto the stack when the previous one resolves (if a land is sacrificed, obviously). If there is a copy (or an original version) on the stack ...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
When a creature is face down, turning it face-up is a special action , which doesn't use the stack. This means it's not an activated ability so Oppressive Rays won't affect it. Technical point: Special actions not using the stack means they do not go through the same steps as casting a spell or acti...

Banding or the Humility/Opalescence combo will still provoke a groan or two though, or at least they did when I was judging a lot.

Re: LRR Minecraft Server
Rather than using rails you could have the player walk, and periodically use command blocks to rotate their direction slightly, which essentially forces the player to hold forward and occasionally correct their heading. I think it might also be possible to teleport the player back to the start every...

See, some of us have lives that are too busy to even make time to play Minecraft, let alone manage a whole server update and chunk review.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
At one point, I read someone saying online that the en-Kor ability broke up the damage into 1-point increments, rather than having the damage still be dealt as one block. Consequently, I was of the impression that having a Lymph Sliver out would allow my en-Kor creatures to functionally be indestru...

Re: Would you be interested?
If the food and service are good then the general public will probably like it regardless, and at that point the medieval setting is what will make the place stand out. I'm thinking about places like the Hard Rock Cafe, it's a good setting with cool décor, but the food is also very tasty and (speaki...

Re: Season 1 Share List?
Is it possible to get a list of everyone who had it and approximate dates? This was such a successful project and it would be great to have the scale of it recorded for posterity.
I'd love to say I'll do it myself but I don't know how likely that would be. And if someone already has it...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Just wanted to go back and provide some extra reasoning to this question: Why doesn't Morph use the stack, like every other activated ability? Why does it need to be a special action? I believe the main reason for this is that turning the card face up has a cost that only the front of the card can s...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
No. You can tell this by looking at the Oracle text for these creatures: Amrou Seekers & Skirk Shaman . The reason they do not have Intimidate even though their abilities operate in almost exactly the same way is because they were printed before Intimidate was added to the rules. Updating cards ...

Does this mean an anarchy night is still possible or are we jumping straight to a persistent 1.8 server? Both are cool I'm just curious as to which is happening.

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
Just to make sure this part is claer: If you do activate the Torch Fiend while the Phyrexian Revoker is on the stack (so, before a card is named) then you can't target the Revoker but any other artifact is fair game. For those that are interested, advanced rule coming up: Also, with cards such as th...

Re: Magic the Gathering: Ask a Judge
They do not have the same name. Morphed creatures have no name at all, and you can't have the same name if don't have one to begin with. There isn't explicitly a rule to back this up, but there is the official gatherer ruling for Maelstrom Pulse : "A face-down creature has no name, so it doesn'...
