Re: Talking Simulator

I read the manga not the novel but I would agree that Battle Royale is a very worthwhile read by itself and has many interesting parallels with PUBG. There are apparently some interesting differences between the two - the English translation of the manga was actually re-written to better attract No...

Re: Design a Card

Tried to make a mechanic for "legendary" Instants/Sorceries, not completely satisfied with it but came up with these: Widespread Rebellion, Sorcery, 3WWW When you cast Widespread Rebellion, exile any number of cards named Widespread Rebellion from your hand and library, for each card exile...

Re: Talking Simulator

I wonder how much of the "we need bits of all these games" is a misguided attempt to attract a wider player base? If you put in content from lots of different game styles then you've got something in there that will appeal to a lot of different player types right? In a way it's similar to ...

Re: Talking Simulator

Some thoughts, which you touched upon in the So What, which stimulated my thinking: On how much gameplay in horror: I've never really understood the horror genre, for a variety of reasons it's never appealed to me. The Layers of Fear playthrough made me understand why people could enjoy it, the visc...

Re: Books you're reading now

I'm reading through The Magician's trilogy. On the final book of the series. Would recommend it for an interesting world with an unlikeable protagonist. I agree that it is an interesting world, and I found the protagonist DEEPLY unlikable. Him cheating in the first book tilted me so much, I've ...

Brightsun RPG

Greetings lords of the tabletop, I've been slowly working on a fantasy tabletop RPG for several years and am now in need of some serious playtesting and feedback. So I'm going to put links to the Rule Book and World Guide and an excel version of the character sheet here and hope that some of you are...

Re: The General Chat thread

Last night I had a flash of inspiration and fleshed out mechanics and a skeleton story for what I think could be a great portalesque video game but I don't know anyone I could send it to to turn it into reality. Premise: you've undergone experimental nanotech treatment that lets you rearrange your f...

Re: Talking Simulator

I haven't actually seen any of the Alien franchise so until you commented on "everyone knows about the chest burster" I had no concept of what the trapped guy with exploded torso meant. and have only limited understanding of why the guy in the umbilical erupted into alien baby. Confirming ...

Re: Books you're reading now

I've been working my way through the entire MTG fiction backlog, just finished Apocalypse. I have about half of them in paper and the rest on kindle, some of them are almost impossible to find now in either format. Before that I read the first three books of The Faithful and The Fallen by John Gwynn...

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk

Hmmm, I don't know I feel balancing a whole ten decks sounds incredibly challenging. To even begin to advise we would need way more information on the decks, for example you say they are Ravnica commander decks does that mean you are limiting yourself to only the use of cards from Ravnica block, an...

Re: Talking Simulator

I've only recently started watching Talking Sim and have highly enjoyed the usually intelligent and analytical consideration of the games played. For a host of reasons (mostly involving living in the UK and not wanting to keep my wife up all night) I'm unlikely to ever appear in the twitch chat whil...
