Re: Brilliant news stories
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/24/crocodiles-escape-south-african-farm_n_2541938.html "There used to be only a few crocodiles in the Limpopo River," Zane Langman, the son-in-law of Johan Boshoff, the owner of Rakwena Crocodile Farm, told the local Beeld newspaper. "Now there a...

Hey, I ski at Squaw. Fantastic place. Ski through Starbucks sounds hilarious. I'm just wondering if we'll see anybody, hot coffee in hand, trying to make it down like a double black diamond slope of moguls...

Lackadaisy reminded me how much I need to get a sweeping badass longcoat, other than my kind of ragged thin Harkness-esque blue one. I've had one in mind, here, I just need to figure out the sizing...

Re: DancingFox: Making the rest of us look bad
I don't do it consistently after midnight! That's only if I've managed to not get around to it. I prefer to do it earlier whenever I can, but sometimes it ends up being late and it's not done. And I totally would be in support of such a mass learny project. It works extra well with languages, to lea...

Re: DancingFox: Making the rest of us look bad
Well, to be honest, I have considered working with a few friends and learning to escape bonds. Just like, tie up or duct tape wrists/legs, and practice escaping from them. Inspiration recently being from Jim Butcher's Dresden books. Wouldn't record it as a learning hour though. Just a fun talent to ...

Learning is great. It's always worth doing! And this isn't all as big as it may seem, it's super doable! I recommend checking out lectures on iTunes U. Great and interesting stuff all over. And a bit easier to learn from than Wikipedia. Although I've gotta say, it's also a pretty great way to wander...

Re: Is rape "worse" than murder?
On the whole "was asking for it" mess. The very idea of saying such in a rape situation is disgusting and horrific, I certainly agree. But, to explain where I think it comes from: killing somebody is never normal in day to day life. Having sex with somebody can be normal in day to day life...

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Loved it, incredibly well written, hilarious, and musically awesome. I especially love when the saxophone really kicks in at the end. And the drawings were great. And Kathleen looked fantastic . One of my favorites in quite some time, although it's not an easy compet...

Alphie is well on his way in the mail! But, mail takes a bit of time. Expect him midweek! Now, let me see if I can get these photos up. There are quite a few. So, I did my best to keep track of the little menace, but he managed to get his hands on a time machine. I chased him through to Victorian En...

Well I am mailing him today! I am in fact leaving the house as soon as I'm done checking things like the address and grabbing a box, and he will be mailed before I am home. Note: this comment coming from somebody with little to no idea what he is talking about. That article seems quite reasonable to me. Structures and systems like financial analysis and investment will exist, and that's not vicious and wrong. The problem is on a different level, regarding corruption an...

Alphie joined in on the Desert Bus rave. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSmlHW_QzO8 By the way: with the last two weeks being two of the busiest I've had in years, I've unfortunately not had the time to give Alphie a proper tour around. I have some stops to make while I'm in Berkeley for Thanksgivin...

The word exactly wasn't used, I don't think. Over would probably disqualify, but I figured they'd take under. Mine was still exactly 100 cause it came out like 105 and then I pared it down, although wordcounted it reads 99 because of ellipses. They always mocked me. But they mocked Cave Johnson and ...

Re: Stop SOPA
I'm very curious about this more than anything else. Because here's the thing: groups like anonymous have shown how much damage can be done over the internet. If this bill is passed, it could go two ways. If it isn't enforced, it is meaningless and nothing will have changed. If it is enforced, the u...
