Right. the streamer makes it move a bit slower so that when you rack yourself while practicing, it doesn't hurt nearly as bad. the wacking your self durring practice is a vital part of learning though. If you hit your self hard enough you will learn dont to fuck that trick up again. Its easy as that.

Poi are pretty easy to make. You just need a couple of tennis balls, some string or rope, and something to use as a streamer (such as caution tape). I haven't played with any for a while; I was never very good with them anyway. I've never played with fire. Regular poi doesnt even need the streamer....

Tank_Girl does, I recall. This is correct. I have been spinning poi for about 6 years and doing fire for 5.
