Re: LRRcast for Past Ransom
First half thoughts while watching:
Noticed a cut during the Canada Post rant. I take it that went on longer than the vidcast implied.
--
I'd've said Matt is also the (needlessly) angry guy a lot.
--
Who's talking from off screen? It sounds vaguely like Ashley.
--
Maybe its because I grew up in the British boonies, but I remember that time with relatively primitive mobile phones when I left school, and that was only about five six years ago.
--
Graham called you a poop, Alex. Brutally interrogate him with the red hot rabid rats.
--
Aww. To be fair, I kind of figured my questions were a little too involved given the usual LRRcast time limits.

I've actually been going to tabletop conventions (DunDraCon and occasionally ConQuest) for years, and I'd say it's more like 30/70, not 2/98... But maybe that's just here. Also, those numbers increase a bit for the larps.

On note Graham. You could have had a drink in the UK as it is 18, but there is a challenge 21 campaign to prove you're over 18. HOWEVER, if you are as young as 9 or 13 and in a beer garden and the drink is bought for you you can drink (reference from QI).

Second half thoughts:
Yeah, only James describes James.
--
Staring contest, Alex. Go!
--
Love Jer flipping his phone. He oughta do it more.
--
Alex/James slash, heh heh. Matt's gonna be pissed that James is cheating on him.
--
Phun phact, my eighteenth (for that's the big milestone to a Brit) was just another idle Tuesday. The vast majority of the things I was legally able to do at eighteen were things I had been doing for years by that point.
--
Once again, belatedly, happy birthday, Graham. I hope you had a smashing time at the fair.
Round my end, the numbers are significantly higher (even the LARPing), to the point where I'd say gender quality is a rough 50/50 split. Then again, most of the local gaming community do a lot of reaching out to new faces and looking out for the regulars. Its rather pleasant, not to mention its the main way I've made friends and connections at uni.

Hey Paul!
You got it. It was in fact three. Well done!
The next number will be 24 black.
Edit: Thought of a better joke.

I think what you guys were looking for to explain what you don't want the future of LRR to look like is how Royal Canadian Air Farce ended up. Stay clear of that and all will be well.

Re: LRRcast for Past Ransom
You referenced my question from ten days ago, so you've actually managed to upload this lrrcast on my 21st birthday, which was a neat way to conclude it I think.

It was me.
This was my seventh avatar.
As of this post, if I counted correctly, I am currently on my twenty-fifth avatar.
I have a folder called "ondeck" with avatars I've made that I haven't had the chance to use. Right now, it has eleven avatars waiting to go.

Speaking of playing games with LRR crew and forum-goers, I would like to play Portal 2 with Matt cuz I think that'd be cool.

What about Backup Spam?
EDIT: Unrelated to the above, I've seen Very Bad Things on TV, and even though I don't think it's all that funny, I think it sorta works as a thriller. I can't really bring myself to hate it, but I know if I watched it with the violence intact, I wouldn't be able to tolerate it.

Re: LRRcast for Past Ransom
They didn't?
Weird.
Weird.
Re: LRRcast for Past Ransom
LRR seems to skip videos every now and then. Maybe I just missed it, but they also didn't talk about The Arms Race from Hustle.
I fight for TRUTH! JUSTICE! And DONUTS!

Do I remember phone booths? My father was an industrial engineer and bloody designed phone booths.
... not sure why that's relevant, but there, I said it.

Oddly enough, my grandfather was an electrical engineer who designed switchboards.

Re: LRRcast for Past Ransom
Graham your comment about your 19th birthday being in England confused me - specifically you said that being 19 meant you couldn't drink in England, even though it meant you could in Canada. The UK drinking age is 18, has been for decades (in fact probably since there first was one), so you could have been drinking anyway regardless of it being your 19th birthday.
In addition in the UK you can drink alcohol with parental permission in private from the age of 5 AND can have a beer/glass of wine with a restaurant meal from the age of 16.

What I meant was, turning 19 in England is no big deal drinking-wise, so nobody made a point of "Let's go drinking!"
