I just noticed that in the "Report Post" section, spam is now the default reason. That's handy.

The thing is though, while they are there, I've yet to see an actual spam thread, maybe I'm just in the wrong place, but whatever new countermeasures are in place, I like to think it involves lasers, seems to be working

Yeah, they can sign up, but their posts are being detected and put into a spam queue.

I've basically given up on trying to keep the members list clean. I'm not sure there's much to be done about it at this point. At least they can't post and fill up the forums with spam, and really they don't do much harm watching.

And waiting.
