Hey Folks,
I'm new to the forum but was wondering if anyone else still plays this, and if so, are there any LRR Forum fleets in STO?

There is.

I think only your wallet can answer that. I took a life-time sub during the open beta as the reason I fell out of playing WoW was lack of money to maintain my subscription, felt this was a good way to allow me to come back to it whenever.
What is the LRR Forum fleet name? Who should I seek out to join it?

Re: Star Trek Online
I believe I'm still the head of the LRR fleet, though I can't remember the name of it, and likely won't be coming back on until it goes F2P. Though I may do what Keab42 is thinking of and get on early. As for the fleet bank issue, I think that may have being my father after the rest of us stopped playing. Since he has a lifetime sub but doesn't play anymore either, I'll ask him to repay back into the bank once we start up again.

Re: Star Trek Online
I'm hoping the fleet patch is some combination of shapes, and colours from the LRR logo, but I guess I'll have to wait till FtP in January (I think it is anyway) before I can find out.
Or better yet, work out some way of replicating in-game the Desert Bus for Hope patch? I think I'd quite possibly hug my screen if I could combine a Star Trek MMO Character with a Desert Bus logo.

Re: Star Trek Online
Okay, Runners - just a reminder that if you are a lapsed subscriber of Star Trek Online, Cryptic is opening the gates to us again as an 'Early F2P Access' as 'Silver Players' (the limited, Free2Play-type account) but with one caveat:
I'm gonna start re-downloading the client as we speak...maybe I'll see someone on there in the near future? (before the servers get flooded with new folks on the 17th...dunno how long they'll last, tho )
Stephen D’Angelo wrote:The most important fact is that previous subscribers can jump right in and play their existing characters with no extra steps and no loss of anything they previously gained for their characters.

Re: Star Trek Online
Yeah, so right now, they've got the server offline to implement 'a patch' (the F2P changes), and maintenance; it comes back up 1000h PDT...which is a half hour after I start work...and I get home at night with just enough time to clean up, cool off and go to bed for the next shift in the morning AND I'm getting together with friends for dinner after THAT shift...guess I'll see y'all on Saturday!

Re: Star Trek Online
Okay, so I stole a couple hours of 'should be sleeping' time to reacquaint myself.
Seems ground combat remains kinda lackluster. Haven't had a chance on space combat yet.
I was a little intimidated when I logged in; I spent two minutes watching a hoard of accomplishments flash past, masking all but the last of a handful of comms messages about missions and things.
I like the redress of Spacedock so far, and I had some fun in Q's winter wonderland. Still have to check more stuff out at Starfleet Academy and this whole duty officer/assignment stuff - sounds promising, as does the 'daily earning of dilithium ore for ships & stuff...pity, tho - the one ship I'm most interested in is RW$ (Nebula/Neb refit)
Welp, maybe I'll run into other Runners late tonight after I get back from seeing a friend off!

Re: Star Trek Online
Having to respec everything is rather daunting to me, looks like I'll have to research what has actually changed. I'll probably be on this afternoon/tonight.

Re: Star Trek Online
I was a bit annoyed by that as I only respecced just before Christmas.
I think I managed a reasonable build without much research but it doesn't leave you many points for Admiral level skills now...

Re: Star Trek Online
Looks like I buggered up my respec after all. Failed to put enough points into EPS Conduits and have severely nerfed the usefulness of Emergency Power to Shields. That does not make for long encounters with Borg Cubes...

Re: Star Trek Online
I probably f-ed it up too, just got fed up with the window popping up every 5 minutes. Also i bought a Deflector for the bonus-thingie you get at DS-9 for showing up at the STF-Guy and i can't equip it for no obvious reason.
Did some weird borg are shwoing up in the sector (DS-9-Area) mission with some guys. Was kind of fun. The big endboss one-shotted me once with a black-hole thingie but in the end we won.

Re: Star Trek Online
Nice. I've only done one of those so far. We had our final cube down to 1% health, I lobbed a brace of torpedoes at it to kill it and we timed out 2 seconds before they would hit...

Re: Star Trek Online
Find the 'shooter mode' interesting, but it'll take some time to break this habit I have of instinctively using the RPG mode. interface (even after months of disuse, the old habits came right back to me :^))
The new PvE queues look interesting, if daunting to a loner like myself; I keep trying to do the 'event' stuff like the history classes and the sensor scan tutoring, but it's hard to keep track of time.
Did they ever get any PvE content for the Klingons or are they still just for brawling? I got a couple of slots left and I might start one of each to see how the grind has changed...

Got my invite, the fleet patch looks pretty good.
Loads of lower level stuff (missions) have been reworked. Going through it all again with a new character, so much has changed...

Re: Star Trek Online
Actually mucked around in combat with both my Starfleet and KDF chars today. They've certainly added a lot of stuff in, and what I've seen thus far I like in that it fills up the world a fair bit more. However, it's going to be a pain to get familiar with all this new stuff and all of the changes. I don't think I'll be investing a great deal of time into it until I finish off the games I got for Christmas, but I think it's something I could get back into.

+1
...well, after I get the games I got for Christmas working (I'm looking at you, Gabe Newell), THEN played and finished, but yeah, the same - might just do dailies until then.

I've got a few days of Premium play left. Contemplating rolling a Klingon Character. Should we get a WCMLGs fleet set up for the Klingons?

So guess who's got two thumbs and just got a third bar inside the gold box?
Yep; just reached Vice Admiral on my main; might have to try some PUGs for those Strike Force missions - I wanna by the 'subtranswarp engine' that lets you pull warp 14.00 in sector space.
Oh, and I killed off my first red shirt yesterday - apparently the mining rights dispute was more tense than appeared and when a scuffle broke out two of the three duty officers "never made it back from the assignment".
