Well I got my preorder in. And I am giddy like a schoolgirl. Seriously, I can't wait for this to come out. The only bad thing is I only have one friend who's getting it, and we were both kind of hoping to get a bigger group going...

I actually considered getting my preorder at Best Buy, you get a Tribble as an ingame pet. But I went with Amazon instead.

Vanguard mentioned earlier in the thread that we could form a Runners fleet (guild).

As far as I know, that hasn't being announced yet. But there's probably enough Europe-based LRR/Star Trek fans to make a fleet on your own servers.

A bat'leth is a bit unwieldy for those purposes...I might suggest using your d'k tahg instead.

The Bat'leth is only less dorky than those sticks Riker and his dad used in the episode with Anbo-Jitsu, the ultimate evolution of martial arts, according to a late 80s episode of TNG.

I hear the "episodes" mode isn't even nearly as developped for the Klingons, and those who are Klingons will have to rely more on PvP to advance.

I bet in the end we'll find out all of STO is just one of Riker's holodeck simulation taking place sometime during TNG.

Which one of us is a southerner? Our character will have to die for no apparent reason.

I overhauled the first post in the thread with details of the various retailer exclusives.

http://www.startrekonline.com/retail

- Gamestop - TOS Enterprise
- Amazon - Borg bridge crew member
- Best Buy - Tribble or Targ pet
- Steam - stat buffing armour
- Walmart - extra skill points
- Target - TR-116 rifle (that rifle from DS9 that could beam bullets into people's rooms)
- Direct2Drive - shield that constantly recharges and constantly heals you

Digital Deluxe edition also has TOS uniforms, KHAAAAN and some sort of Klingon emote, ability to play as a joined Trill, unique ship defense item and exclusive NX ship registration prefix.

Things like that just piss me off... it's a F'ing download game... and they come up with Deluxe?! So we get a digital collectors edition... wow I bet that will look nice in my display case...
Remember when games were only sold in 1 flavor on the old consoles.
Box, Manual, Map, Cartridge, Advertisement. Those games feel like collectors editions compared to the crap we pay for nowadays...

Anyway sorry guys just blowing off some steam against the game industry.

Question about the Steam version: can I play non-valve games downloaded over Steam without having Steam running (I find Steam incredibly annoying)? I'm probably going to go with it anyways so I won't have to go out to pick it up though.

Really, the Gamestop version isn't that great seeing as the Constitution class is one of the earliest ships in the game, and only useful then if you stick with Federation Cruisers instead of going Klingons, or Science/Escort Fed.

That's what I went with the Amazon pre-order. That bridge officer can be used pretty much on any type of ship.
