I was deeply amused when Duckay, furious at herself, recounted how she had learned she could have slept with four love interests in a single game of Dragon Age 2 and only managed three.

(End digression.)

Hey, that works in Dragon Age.

I tried that on my first play through. My Femshep wound up in a romance with Jacob, friend zone with Garrus and Thane got to a point where he wouldn't speak to her unless she dumped Jacob despite all her advances.

I ended up like that with Garrus and Thane. Thane wouldn't talk to me until I chose between him and Garrus.

Obviously, I chose Garrus. Garrus is way cool.

And on a completely unrelated note, people are unhappy with the latest Mass Effect book

Whoops.

(I have got the book but I haven't read it yet - I still need to read the other books in the series. But now I'm not sure if I even want to. This makes me sad :( )

I put my insanity playthrough down for a while, seeing as I had various new games unplayed, but I decided I wanted to finish it before ME3 came out.

Having spent the past age playing the Assassin's Creed series and getting angry at the terrible story/writing/pretty much everything but the gameplay, I forgot how much I enjoy Mass Effect and how genuinely brilliant it is. So Yay :D

I like BioWare's response. They're basically patching the book.

I just did Lair of the Shadow Broker last night. Wow. Liara is so cold-hearted now. I'm glad I ditched her for Garrus.

Also I did Overlord for the first time over the weekend. Many manly tears were shed.

how did nobody at bioware proof read the bloody thing before it went to the publisher. This just highlights a serious lack of respect for the IP to allow some hack to write novels in your universe. I had considered getting the Mass Effect novels but if this is the approach Bioware have to quality control and continuity in their universe then ill keep my money

yeah shadow broker was not fun for me either and the boss fight at the end was annoying. Overlord was by far the best of the DLC missions.

I actually really liked Lair of the Shadow Broker, but I guess Your Mileage May Vary. I haven't played Overlord yet -- should I?

I heard that Overlord was a bit heavy-handed with the "Hollywood" portrayal of autism, which sort of turned me off it a bit. I'll certainly give it a go, though, having heard this endorsement, and try to reserve judgement until I've played it.

It's got a nice variety of gameplay as well, especially with the Hammerhead.

On the other hand I enjoyed Lair of the Shadow Broker a lot. I just really didn't like what the writers did with Liara's character.

I have to agree with the criticism of the way the guy with autism is portrayed in Overlord. It was still a good set of missions, they just could have handled it better than they did.

I really liked Lair, including the changes they made to Liara. It gave her a personality beyond "the cute one".

ARGH! I've somehow managed to lock out every single possible romance option for this playthrough. Not happy, seeing as that's the one achievement I don't have yet.

HAHAHAHAHA *ahem* well you'll still get Kelly as a consolation prize, assuming of course she makes it to the end of the game...

She is, but I didn't bother flirting with her.

EDIT: Well, completed it :D

Even better, found an older save where I hadn't screwed everything up, so I'm blasting through it on normal mode now to get that achievement. Hurrah!

This time round I was just being renegade and getting the achievements I'd missed, so I did Lair but not Arrival.

Wait, seriously? I completely disagree: Overlord's story was perfunctory, aimed at nothing more than one moral choice at the end. Lair's story was well set, paced and told.

Also, the end boss is laughably easy in Lair... if you're an engineer. Muahaha!

Lair's boss was different at least. Run, gun, SHEPARD PAWNCH!

Or, if you're an engineer: Drone, gun, drone, gun, drone, gun, drone, gun, SHEPARD PAWNCH!

Just then on Insanity I was adept, and I found it pretty easy. Just Warp, warp, warp, RUN! Then punch him occasionally.
