Man you guys are pedantic.

I meant it in the definition of having a high amount of quality.

A lot of games have already been said, but I can always throw some into the mix:
Resident Evil 4 - The pinnacle of the series, and still, in my mind, the best game on the PS2
God of War I & II
Rock Band I & II
Guitar Hero World Tour/Smash Hits/Metallica/5
Kingdom Hearts I, II, and Re:Chain
Ico
Shadows of the Colossus

Also, ones I've never played, but have been mentioned before:

I never played that, but I remember several right-wing papers making outraged noises about it.

What was it like?

ITs a bit like silent hill with the gameplay but story wise its pretty disturbing. The game is about a girl who is enslaved by a group of little girls who won't hesitate to murder her if she doesn't do as they say. Your job is to collect stuff for them each month or die, while your out doing their requests your also being attacked by various monsters.

Ah, children. That's what set off the Daily Mail's screamy alarm.

Ratchet and Clank games. Up your arsenal was my favorite.

So far I've purchased Silent Hill 3, Beyond Good and Evil, Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King and a couple of other random little games.

I'm enjoying the shit out of Silent Hill 3. But my suspension of disbelief was totally pierced when I found a goddamn mace. Everything up until then had been very creepy and immersive and then all of a sudden *BAM* theres just a mace sat there on a bench.

Shadow of Destiny, as mentioned is spectacular, and was to me, at least, terribly frustrating.

The Bouncer was pretty rad. A bit obscure, and repetitive - but that can be said about all brawlers - but it was the first PS2 game I ever played, so it holds some regard in my heart.

On that note, God Hand is also win.
