If you click "Buy Now", you have a small chance of getting that game for free.

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
Ah, THAT's probably related to the glitchiness I'm seeing when it switches from one title to another...
So it'd probably be your best bet to try with games that're selling really quickly, as that'd have the greatest load with their account and payment servers, and more likely to get all flaky.
...then again, it'd be equally likely you'd get the opposite glitch - the payment server would update, but your account wouldn't get updated...although even MY barely-out-of-COBOL,FORTRAN-and-Pascal-programming experience would be able to prevent that (that, and GoG's cx svc. staff would likely remedy your error quickly and expeditiously; that's been my experience)

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
Apparently it's intentional and each account has a code and if your code is the winning one (Did I HONESTLY have winning won there?!), you win the free game.
Although the sales have now come to a crawl and there's nothing really appealing. Time for food!

Dark Souls is on sale for the unusual price of $6.79USD. I broke down and bought it after watching Alex & Graham's streams as well as Yahtzee's video about it.
Always Sometimes Monsters, an RPGMaker game seemingly in the same light as To the Moon is also on sale for $8.99USD. I haven't bought this one yet but I am curious to know if anyone has tried it. Based on some of the reviews it sounds like To the Moon meets Hotline Miami.
Note: Always Sometimes Monsters includes a content warning so I figured I'd mention that here, just in case.
Always Sometimes Monsters has content dealing with racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, mental health, sexual assault, child abuse, animal abuse, drug abuse, and suicide.

It's not on Steam, but if you happen to tolerate Origin, apparently Battlefield 3 is free until June 3rd.

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
Okay...as much as I hate to bring it up, Origin has a pile of games on cheap: ME2, ME3, DA:O & DA2 @ $6, etc. etc.
And they've got Plants vs. Zombies GOTY for free right now.
The catch is...it's on Origin.
Got DA2 for the wife, and a copy for myself.
I've got ME & ME2 on Steam, but it being an EA game means I'd only be able to get it conveniently on Origin...should I bother?

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
I've sucked it up and got my DA:O (that I've redeemed from Steam) onto Origin. And you'll never guess why I'm CHOOSING this over Steam.
Large Address Aware.
Steam does not recognise it. It refuses to. Origin allows you to so you can access the full 4GB over just the 2GB. And for a game with a vicious memory leak? You're damn right I want the full 4!

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
hmmmmm....I haven't got enough money at the moment to duplicate my library in Origin...zyxst has been doing a Patreon Let's Play of it with the Steam version, but I don't think she's had too much trouble (although her play sessions are kept short for recording purposes).
Is this an issue with other Bioware games like ME2/3?

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
Look, I know everybody shits on the ending to ME3. With good reasons. (with the extended ending I kept expecting Admiral Hackett to say "War. War never changes.") But what most people tend to ignore is that there's 80+ hours of really great RPG content in there. The core of it, the great writing and dialogue, is still there. It's just the plot that went to Undead Burg and opened a coffee shop.
Problem is that Drew Karpyshyn, the head writer of the first two games, was taken off the project so he could write some godawful shitass goddamn piece of shit paid fanfic to resolve the Revan problem, and the guy (or girl, for that matter, I don't remember exactly who) they replaced him with was an engineer, not a writer. And engineers solve problems in the simplest, most efficient way possible. Which is to say, fucking deus ex machina I AM A GIANT SQUID OF ANGER.
Ahem. Also, all the story DLC is very much worth having. Especially Citadel.

It's all over but the crying. And the taxes.

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
You can use your CD keys even from Steam to add them to Origin for free. I have Dragon Age both on Steam and on physical copy. I also have Mass Effect 1 and 2 ONLY on physical copy. I added those keys to Origin and I now have free Origin copies.
ME 1 and 2 have NEVER had a memory leak problem for me. If ME only uses 2GB, it's doing it right because I do not have any problems and have never even considered LAA. It's only Dragon Age that has consistently screwed me over with Origins and Awakening. (They never learned.)

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
Steam's doing 75% off everything Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014-related (except Foil Conversion for "Enchanter's Arsenal" for some unknown reason).
Get some deck keys, foils, or even the whole game, for pretty cheap.

ERMAHGERD DER ERN DER!
So GOG.com is having a huge sale right now (which is incentive enough) but there is a massive, insane discount on a D&D Masterset collection.
This bundle includes Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Planescape: Torment, Temple of Elemental Evil, Dragonshard, and Demonstone. Regular price? $105.90.
Sale price? $21.10. For the next twenty hours only. Jump on this. Right now.

Can anyone else smell the encroaching scent of the Steam Summer Sale? I give it two, maybe 3 days.

I was wondering if it was me that I was smelling. You might actually be right Ptang, but I would have to check the old dates to be sure.

...so HuffPo is taking the lead from Eurogamer...who are using NeoGAF forumites' speculation as their source...
Bah, seems plausible tho - I noticed there's VERY FEW "Weekly Deals" on Steam at the moment...almost like they're clearing the board for something big.

Re: Steam Sales Awareness Thread!
It's pretty much known at this point that the Steam summer sale starts on the 19th.
