Game I made for Android

Postby UDP » 23 Feb 2012, 16:05

Hey, not sure if you guys mind me posting this here, but I'll give it a shot. (If you do mind... oops) I'm trying to get some feedback on a game I made for Android, you can download it for free here: https://market.android.com/details?id=pierce.android.blobs.activity
Thanks!

I'd love to!

...Except sending that link to my phone via Chrome to Phone just gets me this:

Seriously? The Galaxy Nexus is the new dev phone. C'mon, man.

Sorry, it should work now. It'll take some time for the market to refresh to the new version. The version should be 1.32.
EDIT: Actually the resolution on the Galaxy Nexus is way higher than I thought, some stuff is going to look a bit messed up, trying to fix now.

That's the only time I find that iOS has a significant advantage over Android when developing, is you only have 3 screen sizes to worry about (maybe 4 soon...). Android has hundreds.

Yeah, it depends what you're making, but if it has graphics in it, the different sizes is annoying. Developing for iOS pretty much requires me to own a mac and iphone though, if I already owned those I probably would've developed for iOS. Anyways it should be fixed for Galaxy Nexus now, 1.32 is the new version whenever the market refreshes.

That's never hurt PC gaming.

True, but despite those screen sizes you have a fixed set of resolutions. Android has varying resolutions as well as screen sizes, and because of how you manage the layouts, it doesn't always scale very well.

Of course I'm only beginning to get into Android programming, but the apps I've been involved with have been a real headache to test.
