Have any recommendations? I only have Sonic and All stars Racing and I'm not sure what else to get. Until Fall, of course.

Lego City: Undercover is just stupidly good fun. It's basically Lego GTA.

Nintendoland is also a good game to play if you have other people to play with, and New Super Mario Bros U is as good as you'd expect. Those and Sonic are the only games over got for it, I'm afraid.

I was never sure if I should get Lego City. I watched some people play it and I thought it was funny, but I couldn't justify it. I might just get it anyway.

Thanks for the recs, man. I'd get NSMBU, but I don't have any friends to play it with.

I heard about a game recently, but never got the name of it- all I know is that it's an indie game, with the premise that you start out as one guy, trying to reclaim his castle...but if you die, you then take up the role of one of his children, each with it's own weird traits that affect game play in various ways (i.e you can have Dwarfism, or Gigantism or even Dyslexia) and learn from your mistakes and such. Any ideas?

Sounds like Rogue Legacy, which you find on Steam here. Probably other places too. It looks pretty good, but I'm holding out for a sale.

I'm not calling you out or anything, empath, but I am so very glad you were wrong here. Context.

On another note, anybody still playing Borderlands 2?

Yeah, so I was finishing up my 'social media' stuff, trying to decide whether to play some MORE New Vegas or start delving into Borderlands 2 that Fiend was so generous to bestow upon me, whilst zyxst was digging through Steam looking for interesting games that have badges/cards to add to her wishlist...when she blurted out "Yeah, this Shadowrun remake looks pretty good; I'll add it."

 :!:

OHMYGODTHAT'SRIGHTSHADOWRUNRETURNSISRELEASEDTODAYQUICKOPENSTEAMINSTALLIT...what? WHY WON'T IT INSTALL?!?

RIGHT THERE - it says "Now Available" DAMMIT?!?

How has Alja been playing this for FOUR HOURS already?!?

THERE. Now, where'd I put that five pounds of d6's? Doesn't feel the same without my talismans...

If you have Steam on Android, you can tell you computer to download it while you're at work.

I'm pretty excited to play it when I get home as well. Reviews seem mostly positive, in the "It's good, but has some flaws" kind of way. But for $20, that sounds good to me.

It's nice.

I have really vague memories of trying the SNES version, but though this 'included adventure' is supposed to be just an updated run of that story, I am enjoying it as if it was new.

'checkpoint' saving (at the start of each new level) is causing a big ruckus over on the Steam community, but a) if you paid attention to the dev blogs, you know about this already, and 2) though I do love me some save-anytime-anywhere-even-in-the-middle-of-combat PC flexibility, this isn't bothering me at all. And I've only encountered this "FIX DIS NAO" audio stutter when I tried to move AND scroll the map at the same time. People really bitch the hell out over the most trivial things. I mean, yes, I'm barely 1/2 through Act I and I can't count on one hand the typos I've seen, but apart from wishing I'd volunteered my proofreading skills to the devs, I don't CARE. :D

What does bug me is the game is still listed as "Coming Soon" in my library, but Alja and Mister Fiend have been playing the game through Steam. While I'm chugging along just fine with HBS's direct DRM-free download, this quirk puzzles me...and there ain't a word about it in the Steam discussions...(well, at least in the first five pages :P )

So...

I moved my installed Steam games to a safe folder, uninstalled Steam, rebooted, then set Steam to re-install. Then I went to work.

Got home, cooled off, finished up a couple of things and moved all the games back, and sure enough now there's an "Install" button.

It's weird; I was making sure that "Steam.exe" cleared out of the processes in Task Manager before starting it up again, and even went through rebooting the PC, our 'passthrough' router, the landlord's router and the ISP's modem, yet saw no change...

I gotta stop liking games, obviously.

Do used games suddenly get cheaper in the height of summer? I just picked up MW3 for like $20 when it had been $50 for months. Most of the other games were $20-30 too.

I bought the current IndieGala bundle, which includes Trainz 2012; I then had a conversation with my friend:
"Can I install Trainz on your PC so I can play it over here?" [my PC's still getting fixed]
"No"
"You gonna buy the bundle?"
"I might, I just don't wanna spend too much money"
"But TRAINZ"
"I don't wanna play Trainz, fuck you"
"Filthy casual scrub"
"Did you just c-"
"Yes"

Long story short, I'm probably never going to play Trainz but I'm gonna keep antagonising my friend about it.

Getting slowly addicted to Crusader Kings II. I will become King of Ireland. Then Emperor of Britain.

Also, is it really true that there's tools to extend saves over the rest of the Paradox games like Universialis and Hearts of Iron?

I don't think there are any official ones, but there are tools like that that exist. They're not perfect, obviously, because you could end up with countries still existing in one game that don't have a tag in the next one. The Holy Roman Empire became the South German Confederation in one of my conversions.
