Cards on the Table Mafia: TOWN WINS

Postby JackSlack » 21 May 2014, 15:00

The game is now begun. All cards have been dealt. This is how the game stands.

There are three Aces, who act as Mafia. They were told the following:

FACE DOWN, you are the Ace of Spades/Hearts/Clubs.

Image

You are the Mafia in this game. Once per night, you and your compatriots (FACEDOWN the Ace of FACE DOWN and FACE DOWN the Ace of FACE DOWN) may target one player collectively, and this player will be discarded from the game. You win when only Aces are left.

There are seven numbered cards, who act as Townsfolk. They were told the following:

FACE DOWN, you are A NUMBER CARD.

Image

This means you are a townsfolk in this game, and have no special powers. You win when all the Aces and the Joker are discarded.

There is one Jack of Clubs, who acts as a vigilante. This person was told the following:

FACE DOWN, you are the Jack of Clubs!

Image

You are the town’s vigilante. Once each night, you may target another player, and they will be discarded from the game. You are aligned with the town, and win when all the Aces and the Joker are discarded.

There is one Queen of Spades, who acts as an Investigator. This person was told the following:

FACE DOWN, you are the Queen of Spades!

Image

You are the town’s investigator. Once per night, you may target one player, and peek at their card. You are town aligned, and win when the Aces and Joker are discarded.

There is one King of Hearts, who acts as a Doctor. This person was told the following:

FACE DOWN, you are the King of Hearts!

Image

You are the town’s healer. Once per night you may target another player, and that night this player may not be discarded. You are town aligned, and win when the Aces and Joker are discarded.

There is one Joker, who acts as an Investigating Survivor. This person was told the following:

FACE DOWN, you are the Joker!

Image

In the game, you are a Survivor Investigator, neutral aligned. You win if you are in play at the end of the game, and the game cannot proceed further. In practice, this means the Aces must all be discarded, and you may only be in play with one other townsfolk at the end of the game. The townsfolk cannot win until you are discarded.

However, you are not blind, and may investigate one person per night and peek at their card.

Here are our players:

1 Duckay - Joker
2 My Psuedonym is Ix – Queen of Spades
3 Admiral Memo - Town
4 Preacher - King of Hearts
5 Romangoro - Town
6 Tapir12 - Town
7 Jamfalcon - 10 of Diamonds
8 aeric90 - 5 of Diamonds
9 Korvys - Town
10 Hepheastus - Ace of Hearts
11 Conoros - Ace of Spades
12 Ptangmatik - Town
13 Kapol - Ace of Clubs
14 Phailhammer - Jack of Clubs

Play may now begin. The first day will last one real world week. When eight players have voted to discard a player from the game, that player will be discarded and their card revealed. We will then begin night one.

Begin.

Well, it seems like a fine day for being a card, wouldn't you agree? I'm sure nothing could possibly go awry!

Wait, I see there are people trying to discard me? I shan't stand for it!

It's going to take some carefully manoeuvring to get the upper hand on these Aces.

EDIT: Also, how ridiculous is the word "manoeuvring"? It's those damn French, cramming all those extra vowels into their words.

(A side note: I realise I excluded Diamonds in both the special roles and the mafia. Huh. I wonder what I have against Diamonds? Anyway, unintentional and there's no special meaning in it.)

It's alright. I'm sure we will soon have this situation well in hand. Let me tell it to you straight, we've got a full house of traitors, but never fear, we'll flush them out and send them down the river.

(I had to get as many out as fast as I could so I don't just keep dropping them through the game. I'll be good now, I swear.)

There's only one joker I believe. From the looks of it, we have 3 mafia, 7 vanilla town, a detective, a vigilante, a doctor, and the joker, a pseudo-detective role. That seems to be where we stand at the minute.

Card-puns aside, we have 14 cards in the deck, and 4 roles that we want to discard. Not sure what the call for the first day will be, but I say we don't waste it just shuffling the deck and hoping for the best.

I think Preacher was including the Jack (Vigilante) alongside the Joker as cards who may not always be acting in our best interests (intentionally or not).

And now I can't think of any card puns, cause Duckay took them all. *tilts out*

I don't know about you, but I'd just like to go dancing. You know, perhaps at a disco, or some other place that has that type of thing. Perhaps they also serve sandwiches, maybe with 3 slices of toasted bread...

Would anyone be for that tonight?

I have more, I just think I want to save them for later so I don't get lynched just to stop the puns.

An important but quick note: The rules for the King of Hearts have been clarified slightly to make it clear that self-targeting is not allowed, and I have advised the player of this change. My wording was sloppy, my apologies.

Clearly we'll have to work together to trump the aces, or we'll all be euchred.

Welp... Without any more information, will we have to go fishing for clues?

At this point, we're going to have to make our choice more or less blindly. There's not much information to be gleaned on the first day. I doubt anyone is willing to claim a role this early in the game, so we'll have to just cross that bridge when we come to it.

Are you leading with the wrong group of puns? I don't think we should follow suit.

Should you fold? Or maybe it's some sort of trick? Either way, I'm ready to book it.

Maneuvering is my nemesis word, I've been trying to spell it correctly for over ten years with little success. It makes me so angry sometimes I just want to deck the lot of you cards

In my opinion, something smells fishy.

On the other hand, while I have learned to know when hold them, I never did learn to know when fold them.

Hmm. It seems we have quite a situation here. I suggest we all bury the clubs, start calling a spade a spade and be frank with each other- have a heart to heart, so to speak.
