Awesome video guys! Couldn't stop laughing. Especially when you were in the shop. I noticed Kathleen pop up in the back. Love it. haha.

But because of all the talk of Magic in the podcasts, crapshots and now commodore hustle as well I am getting all too tempted to start playing. If I waste hundreds of pounds on cards I am blaming you guys.

Nice subtlety on the ICP reference there ;)
This a really well-done hustle, the way duels were done kinda reminds me of The Gamers 2, and how they made D&D fights interesting to accessible to people who didn't know everything about what was happeneing.

Also - awesome to see so much Alex in one ep. :P

(Oh, and 2 hours after watching the vid, at 4am, i'd finished re-making the Jund deck i hadn't touched in a year... cheers...)
Over-analysing since 1991...ish?

It is magic; tons of great jokes, perfectly accessible to non-Magic-players and a fitting send-off for Mr. Sevenhuysen. Well done, guys.

Y'know... I knew you'd make a CHustle about Magic after mentioning you got into the game at PAX. And it was awesome (thought I may have said that already). Thought I'd say a few things:
1: WotC certainly took notice, as they posted the video to the M:tG Facebook page.
2: Why was there a goblin in Kathleen's cat deck? I'm guessing this is based off an actual cat deck she has, but if it's the same deck she posted on the Escapist... well, I'll just assume she made changes since filming. If we weren't going off of real decks, then I'd probably have had that last game go like this:
Kathleen: Plains, Steppe Lynx.
Alex: Swamp.
Kathleen: Forest, Wild Nacatl. Shuko. Equip Shuko to Lynx. Swing for 3. (Alex is at 17 life.)
Alex: Swamp.
Kathleen: Mountain. Shikari Sunspear. Swing 6. (Alex is at 11 life. Kathleen leaves the Mountain untapped, if you need to show it.)
Alex: Swamp. Vampire Nighthawk. (Just so it looks like Alex has a chance, until...)
Kathleen: End of your turn, Lightning Bolt the Hawk. My turn. Plains. (Insert choice of either Ajani, Leonin Armorguard, Lightning Bolt, or Lightning Helix here.) Swing for game.

Also conveniently solves the problem that was brought up on the Escapist of her drawing when she went first. (I counted the cards in my theoretical match.) That said, usually telling people how to do their job ends disastrously, so I'll stop with that. Though I did get a hoot out of Alex's slights-of-hand with Magic cards. Especially turning his entire deck of playing cards into a Magic deck. (How did he do that?)

I like Alex's persona as the magic guy. I think that will come in quite handy, overall. Still sad to see Tim go.

It was a good video. The scene in the card shop probably had me laughing the hardest. Did everyone catch Kathleen popping up in the background at the end of the scene? I think you have to have a good grasp of Magic the Gathering to really follow the video, but it's about as good as any topical video can be about being subject matter-agnostic.

Given the blog entry, does that mean James really pulled two epic rares from one booster? Very nice.

What's the over/under on games of Magic played during Desert Bus at the Moonbase? 120? 150?

Alex= New Favorite in Hustle. Let the Dickery Begin!

Edit: I can get the nuance of having actual cards but i like the video game versions of TCGs. It give you the chance of getting cards you would be able to afford or have. That being said, this vid has really got me wanting to a) learn how to play Magic, and b) download the Yu-Gi-Oh game off XBLA.

Yeah, this video was extremely tight; I think the best cH. As others have said, I've played almost no magic yet I enjoyed this one thoroughly: that's good writing!

As if it need to be said again, great video. My favourite in months; since last cH actually. Anyway, it took me a second time watching this to notice but Paul disappears from the video after the PAX flashback, does this mean he's the only one who doesn't play?

He likely disappeared to get a job with WotC for some nefarious scheme of his or another.

That would've been a fun stinger.

Paul talking on phone: "Yes Mr. Rosewater, the plan is working to perfection. Is it time to release the mutant crab spiders? ... no? Awwww."

Nah, I imagine Paul would be responsible for assembling Contraptions.

Also, before I forget, The Angry Kitties clearly needs to be put up against... 36 Bears!

4 Grizzly Bears
4 Runeclaw Bear
4 Balduvian Bears
4 Forest Bear
4 Bear Cub
4 Ashcoat Bear
4 Pale Bears
4 Striped Bears
4 Woodland Changeling
1 Cylian Elf

24 Forest

Quite obviously the greatest deck ever constructed. 8)

I can think of a couple of ways to make this deck a lot better now that I look at it. Also, don't freak out about the mana amount. I've won plenty of games with 4 or 5 land out. The deck actually runs surprisingly well on three mana, as long as two of those are plains. That said, now I want to tinker with it.

I've never played a trading card game before (wasn't really a popular thing when I was a kid), but I'm going to a con at the weekend and I can see myself coming away with a starter pack!
