commodoreHUSTLE 01 - Laundry
commodoreHUSTLE 01 - Laundry
IT BEGINS.
It's taken us a long time to finally get this off the ground, and we're pretty excited about it.
It an evolution of an idea we've been kicking around for a while, something I actually wanted to try after we shot "Moving Out" (inspired by the strength of that kind of "sitcom" dynamic).
We've been playing "ourselves" for years now, and we figured it was time to take what we've learned and focus it into an actual series with internal logic and ongoing continuity. It's been tossed around and discussed for months, and here's the result.
I mentioned at the screening that after "A Little TOO Human" it was getting to the point that it wasn't simply a video filled with little in-joke references to previous videos, that was character continuity. Those are established character quirks now.
I guess one could treat this as the "Marvel Ultimate Universe" LoadingReadyRun. It's not the same "continuity" as previous videos, but we're picking and choosing what traits and events "happened" and running with that.
We plan on doing an episode of HUSTLE at least once a month, ideally more, and we will continue regular videos on the other weeks.
Our plan however is that the non-HUSTLE videos will be character sketches, and all "us playing us" energy will be focused into commodoreHUSTLE.
We're pretty excited.
Please let us know what you think!

Evil Jim posts his approval.
Evil Jim will post more approval when he's watched the video a few more times.
Edit
I love it!
The pacing is spot on, the acting is great, the editing is superb. Very funny throughout with lots of jokes. It all looks so professional. I couldn't believe how long it was. You really have your work cut out for you if you're going to do this monthly, but if you're going to get noticed by people that can give you lots of money for doing it this is going to help considerably.

Thanks guys, I was excited to see this at the screening, and glad I can finally comment on it. Fantastic! I look forward to more.
Edit: Dammit!

Well there goes the Timeline of LRRd

Consider this signature a museum piece, since I love it and am unlikely to change it ever.

OK, this is not hyperbole:
That was about the most epic thing to come out of LRR. "Awesome" is not a strong enough word. I thought this might be part 1 of 6 of a LRR full-length movie, but at any size, this is elite. "Comedy gold" seems appropriate.
Bravo. I tip my crown and bow down to you today.

I did like the various Morgan situations (drawings, hunting for Jer, etc)
As long as you don't do the Familyguy-style "flashbacks", or at least limit them, I'll be happy.
This will be a great loadingtime indeed. Unless it isn't. (But I'm never wrong)
And so we see LRR grow into something nearly grand!
I will be awaiting the Phail and Iron stomachs with the greatest of expectations!

I once met a couple of communists who complained that their cafe lacked free speech.
Predicament: Marx liked Hegel, Hegel's methods don't work well without Mill's philosophy of speech, Marx didn't care for Mill.
Lesson: No one is infallible. (Mill wins!)

I like the idea a lot, and great video.
Even though it was longer than normal, it actually flowed really well (and the editing was all really smooth). And high-larious all around, really good stuff.
Did Bill have the forums on in his background when he was calling James? Unlikely. Or is that one of his character quirks, that he actually visits them?
Just to expand more on the idea behind HUSTLE, I think it's great that you're taking all the "You playing you" ideas and putting them into a series; I could see it being a television series, an episode of HUSTLE for continuity, with sketches thrown in.
Good shit!

This is certainly your bailiwick and it was superb! I'm getting the feeling that season 5 will be resplendent with spot on comedy.
I especially enjoyed Morgan searching for Jer. Not sure why, it was just really funny.
Will be looking forward to everything that comes this season!
I hope you have a few more girls in future eps. Ash, Tally, Laura, Kate? After all the description does say guys, girls, games, and gorillas. And I'm not sure if that thing that Morgan brought back counts as a girl. Oh, wait... it was the gorilla wasn't it...
I get it now

Is it safe?

That would be as bad as the time I had lunch in Idaho with the bassist from Winger.
Yeah, we're not doing that.
Do one, just to get it out of the way. And to piss people off. Then never even reference the scene ever again.
