This kicked some ideas in my head. There's viral videos, there's fake viral videos posing as viral videos, there's fake viral videos purposely faked, but you guys should take it a step beyond. Go off the grid with the shit, get a good many accounts on places like Digg, Reddit, Break for a couple months. Let it simmer like a crockpot. Start fake blogs, fake news sites. Get intricate, but keep your dealings un-googleable.

Create some sorta fake viral videos that people look into to find something, which turns up something else. I don't know. There's a lot of room beyond mere "here's an episode". It'll get you a ton of exposure. Cheers.

Well, honestly we created the virals mostly because we're really big on meta-humour here. and since commodoreHUSTLE is all about us, playing us, doing web-video, which we actually do, it only made sense that if we were going to reference making fake virals we might as well actually make and release them. Certainly the hope was that one of them would hit, and apparently hit it has, at least reasonably well. But the marketing aspect of them was mostly secondary. It was an experiment, more than anything.

Well, you guys seem devoted to comedy and the internet, and if you put your mind to it, you could create a crucial viral hoax/parody.

Yeah, that was me. I was just trying to come up with ways of misspelling hypocrite. I thought it was funny. I'm glad someone else did too.

And, now that I think about it, strangely fitting for that video. The end is kinda hypnotic.

Is it just me, or is the Break nunchuk video gone? I may be using the wrong search terms.

Speaking of. Who was that in the mask in the end? I feel stupid for not being able to identify crew members by the shape and color of their legs by now.

Also IDK if its been said, but the video is now also linked through reddit.
http://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/ ... _jousting/

It links back to "that site" so no problems there.

ALSO
it occurred to me that all the ppl on Break who are saying its fake because "You can totally hear it hitting a cup", will probably be ridiculed immensely for having such a diverse understanding of sounds various objects make if they were to impact male genitalia, just in case they every try to attack this site. Everyone, get your flame suits ready.

No still there,
http://break.com/index/im-my-own-worse-enemy.html
its sitting pretty at 139k and change.

I've also started giving them thumbs up on Stumble, it might be too little too late, but it still might work.

Okay, since this was obviously my idea, here is what we do.

SUPER CROSSOVER!!!

Tali plays Super Metroid with something on her head, while shaking her boobs. Morgan yells at her while doing a funny dance, drinks some water, whacks himself in the nuts with the bottle and then trips.

Also, very importan aspect of viral videos. Music. Whether its a mix that someone makes based on the video, which would be a good option for Space Jump, or really catchy/annoying/bizarre music in the background, which really needs to go into the things on my head videos.

Just some helpful advice.

I think the complete silence of Things on My Head is part of the brilliance.

Kathleen's video has music, someone did a Space Jump remix already.

Still, I see where you're going with this. I'm not opposed in the least.

TBH, I think a techno remix of Things on My Head would be brilliant.

Imagine a 1:30 vid of paul just staring uncomfortably at you while some crack-happy techno played in the background. Or better yet, make it one of those already famous songs like Caramelldansen or Levans Polka.

Well, ToMH already has the "I am a Robot" mix. So it's there, too.

I would too. I could definitely do an audio-only one, and if someone wanted to do a corresponding video, we could make it work.

So if anyone wants to do that, gimme a PM.

In fact, I love Mr. Show, it's pretty fantastic.

I don't know what being American has to do with not finding the episode funny, as the majority of our viewership is from the states, but hey, that's cool.

And a lone Scotsman. Hustle is my favourite thing on the site. It leaves you with the feeling of thinking a cat did its business on your cake but it turns out to be a really large blackberry.

God this is just incredible! I thought you guys were great before, but now you're clearly geniuses. People are really going for these videos! You've proved once and for all that people actively prefer shite to gold (although all the videos are suspiciously well done and funny).

EDIT: Also, isn't it just great that the one that gets 12,000 views is the one of a man getting hit in the junk. The comments are hilarious too. "lawls white American trash" was a highlight. Youtube comments are always hilariously retarded, but in this case they're all the better (worse).

Virals from America?

Postby kramerr » 04 Mar 2009, 00:44

The nunchuck fail had a comment "lawls white American trash ", and I noticed that nunchuck, wolf, and metroid Virals have their creator's location set to USA instead of Canada. Is this some sort of strategy? Is an American being hit in the nuts funnier than a Canadian?

Exactly. We wanted to mix it up a bit. No real reason.

Okay, I've done a really shitty remix of Space Jump. Just the *sound*, though.

I spent way to much time making this piece of trash.
