commodoreHUSTLE 06 - Viral

Postby Graham » 02 Mar 2009, 15:07

Huzzah! It continues!

So, as I'm sure you can guess, because you're all very clever, we did actually make all those virals. They're intended to look legit. Like the sort of crap people put on YouTube. It's all part of a great experiment we call:
Operation: Viral Outbreak

You can read more about it (and what you can do to help!) in the news section of the brand new
www.commodorehustle.com
Specifically, this post.

NOTE: Just so you all know, obviously the cH videos will continue to air on LRR, so no worries. In all honestly, the cH site isn't really for you all. It's something we're doing to try and make cH stand on its own and bring in new viewers. There won't be anything special there that won't also be on LRR.

I was in tears by about halfway through, and I'm still wiping them away (I'm sorry, I watched it early). Great job guys.

Here's the rundown from www.commodoreHUSTLE.com
Hey everybody, we have an internet experiment that we need your help with.

As you saw, in Episode 06 (the aptly named “Viral”) we produced a bunch of fake videos that are the kind of stuff the internet likes. We’d like to see if one (or more) of these can actually get serious views. That’s right, we actually made all those videos.

But, and this is very important, it won’t work if word gets out that they’re fake. This is a very “Don’t talk about Fight Club” scenario. Don’t make a big deal about it… just pass them around. We’ll be doing the same. And above all, keep it a secret!!

When the next episode of cH comes out we’ll break the news, and hopefully make some people look a bit silly. If it works out, this will be hilarious.

Here are the links to all the YouTube channels for these videos:

All right internet, make us proud!

Sorry to nit pick, but why were you unable to put cords in the 360 outside the mall?

because shut up, that's why.

(we remembered to later, but had forgotten to do so when filming that one shot, and it would have been colossally difficult to get everything back up there to reshoot it.)

Coolness. Too Much Coolness.

Is the Runners website still happening? I'm not pushing, nagging, or rushing, or anything like that, I'm just asking.

nope, if you look in the next shot, the cords are there. we honestly just forgot, because we didn't think the 360 would be in shot.

yes. it comes up in this week's podcast. But we've all been busting our asses to get chustle.com up and running, along with the youtube channel, and everything (we put all this together in basically 3 weeks) so we had to differ the runners site a bit. it's the next big project.

That intro... words... insufficient... brilliant.

If this is the direction the Runners are heading, then I humbly apologize for my previous pessimism. This episode was genius. I haven't even seen the viral vids yet.

Also - to break the fourth wall - why were Adam and James waiting to buy video games at the SUB?

because it looks like a mall, and we could use that location for a couple hours without being tossed by security.

Must. be. within. first. posts... And by the time I post this nearly a whole page is filled.

Very good Hustle! I enjoyed the multiple short bursts of comedy. It's like a funny burst rifle, and just as lethal!

The vending machines shall rise...

In unrelated news, I now feel Paul's pain (except in my case it was my mustache. He was my friend...)

About virals: I have already begun watching them and am now proceeding to put a stereotypical Younoob comment for each. I sacrifice my youtube integrity for you guys. I also sincerely apologize for almost dropping the ball with three PS3s. Thanks for removing it. I'll be more careful with my random in references in the future. Sorry again :(

just a note about the thumbnails....usually when writing on the side, you read top to bottom. I realize that you don't on this site, but with the font used for ch, it really just looks like HP. No big deal, just took me a while to figure out what I was reading.

As far as the video goes:

cute - and nice runners shirt

"we're loading ready on it" made me smile

I love how Matt says "and I'll be enjoying it"

is morgan wearing a burgundy snake skin patterned shirt?

Oh shit guys... these viral videos are total shit! They're perfect!

I think I have testicular cancer.

(An aside, this episode of hustle really makes James and Adam look like brothers)

Haven't watched all of it so far due to my net connection not loading things quickly enough, but I'm already amused at the reaction Graham shows when looking at the anime titles. :D

EDIT: Oh LOL @ Graham in the shower. Both funny and disturbing at once.

The Transformation: Nicely done, though the end result may have been somewhat poorly conceived in the costume department. Nice broken glasses/monocle for Jer though.

FLCL: HAH! Incidentally, I own both FLCL and Ghost in the Shell. I'm only missing the complete season one of SAC for the latter.

The Moonbase: Yup, it's purgatory outside, just a blank white void.

"We require additional JAmes': AWESOME

Virals: Fantastic, the different references were very well done.

So is this the actual end to the season or can we expect episode 7 next month?

Graham's viral actually looks real. Except that the camera wasn't shaky enough. Well done!

Absolutely love it. The viral videos, the new face of cH, even the ludicrousness of it all. You guys are effing brilliant.
