I never got together with Zarbit despite being available most of the day. :-(

Randus2003 2-1 Auserker

game 1: I made a bad keep with a curve starting at 5....let's just say things didn't go my way.

games 2 & 3: played out in almost the same way, they mulled low (4 & 5) where as I got good draws....so well the games were wroof (last dog deck pug I swear) for them.

DeathNDecay 2 1 AdmiralMemo

Game 1: Pretty even match. Ended up winning through slow drain of Accursed witches
Game 2: Memo had all the answers, and I simply did not have the creatures to hold on.
Game 3: After a bit of a rocky start, Blood mist and Flyers won the day

SaloAbraxas 2-1 abanytar (venerable_bede)

ggs, friend! Congrats on the undefeated record. It was an honor to lose to you.

Game 1 SaloAbraxas couldn't dig fast enough for answers to my aggressive start.

Game 2 I was so close - SO CLOSE - to the dream EDM/SOI combo. I had Triskadekaphobia and Tree of Perdition on the battlefield at the same time. But would SaloAbraxas do the honorable thing and let me combo off? No! Rather, SaloAbraxas has to make the "correct" and "smart" play of winning the game. Phooey!

Game 3 was a great game. I kept a chancey opening hand, hoping that I would draw the land on time needed to keep an aggressive chain going. I didn't. SaloAbraxas was able to hold me off with removal spell after removal spell, stabilize, play Nahiri, destroy my board, and mop the floor with me.

Aww. Looks like Salo's big splashy mythics won out against my more consistent aggro deck. I will win one of these sealed leagues one day!

Interestingly, I don't really think of the deck as being driven by big splashy mythics. I think this was more synergy driven. Out of 9 packs, I only ran 1 mythic and 2 rares. And they were the same ones I ran last iteration, when I didn't do nearly as well. What happened this round is that I hit a critical mass of instants/sorceries, cards that card about instants/sorceries, and card draw. Every card contributed to deck's plan.

And also there was luck. Never a round with double mana screw. Aggressive decks that had the potential to run me over stumbled enough to let me get my card draw engines going. And so on.

Artirian_Legacy 2-0 hacofo

Woo! First positive record in an event in over a year~!

Game 1: Slow start from both of us into double mythic finish on my end.

Game 2: I was very scared for a bit, as my deck does not like opponents playing creatures before turn 5, at which point Jace came to the party and ground out enough value, backed by a couple defensive creatures, to take over.

congratz to SaloAbraxas on winning this season (by a single point).

now given the inventors fair is already here and I think people might need a small break I'm setting the deadline for next seasons pool submittal at 10-23-16....and the rules of our little Fair are hopefully fairly simple:

1 - a screen shot of a regular sealed pool (that's a pool of 90 cards including basics) showing the build clock or league deck save. or 7 screen shots showing 6 packs (the open product screen) and your whole pool. If you wish to use a pre-release pool I will allow it assuming that there is only 1 foil rare/mythic rare in the pool (aka the promo card) that can be easily removed. (I'm changing my mind on not allowing this in the future b/c it didn't seam to cause too many problems)

2 - your MTGO name

side notes:

1 - remember: all are welcome new runners and old (so spread the word).

2 - reminder: the only thing on the line is bragging rights so please come to have fun.

3 - round 1 pairings will go up shortly after the submittal deadline.

4 - if anyone wants to play but can't financially support it don't be afraid to ask for a sponsor here (yes, you are still aloud to sponsor other runners)...us runners tend to be a giving bunch, just don't feel hurt if someone isn't able to help you out this season because there will always be a next season. (how people chose to invoke this is up to them as long as the submittal requirements are met)

5 - you are aloud to switch/change/update your pool up until the deadline at which point I will download the posted screen shots and the pools will be considered locked.

6 - if there are other questions that you feel need clarified/answered please feel free to PM (preferred method so that I get a notice on my phone) me or ask here and I'll do what I can to get back to you in a timely manner

3-5 well I think there was a better deck in my pool I just never found it.

I've decided to skip the Kaladesh League because finding timeslots that work is becoming more and more difficult, with work, studying and offline responsibilities.

Best of Luck and awesome packs, to all in the next round. ;)

See you after aether revolt.

Well, hopefully we get enough people involved.

I've decided to run back my strategy of mediocre playing but opening planeswalkers.

there has been a unanimous decision made by those that have already submitted pools...we are extending the deadline 1 week (until 10/30/16) then move forward with a shorter league if there isn't enough interest (i.e. a minimum of 9 pools for 8 weeks) in playing this season to allow for a full season. so if you are still on the fence and/or forgot about the deadline you have a little more time...I'll also try to post a reminder during this weeks LRRMTGO stream.

scores at end of round 0:

(0-0-0) AdmiralMemo
(0-0-0) Artirian_Legacy
(0-0-0) Auserker
(0-0-0) DeathNDecay
(0-0-0) Randus2003
(0-0-0) SaloAbraxas

round 1 of 5? pairings:

SaloAbraxas vs Auserker
AdmiralMemo vs Artirian_Legacy
DeathNDecay vs Randus2003

guess a foreshortened season it is, as a result this season will be round robin pairings instead of swiss based on result.

side note: my cable/internet is still out and I can't run mtgo through my phone (I tried), I'll let my opponent know when I'm back up and running (if it's not this week I guess I forfeit until it is).
