Checkpoint+

Postby Paul » 12 Jan 2014, 13:57

CheckPoint lives on, filmed before a live internet audience! Kathleen, Graham, and Paul keep you up to date on the latest and stupidest gaming industry news, while sharing their views on the most egregious examples of idiocy. The term “lambast” is applicable.

Post any comments or questions about the Checkpoint+ live stream.

Hey guys, I'm loving all of the streaming, and you guys are doing a great job of doing checkpoint live, even with the few technical bugs that have popped up.
One thing that is kind of annoying though, is you guys spend A LOT of time welcoming new subscribers. By the time Graham does his thing, then Kathleen does her thing, then Paul adds any comments he has, theres like 3 new ones to do. The comments are great, but it gets old after seeing you do it for a whole pile of people in a row. I really think you should keep it short and sweet so we can get more of your commentary on video game news :)
Keep up the great work guys! Even with my complaint I'm still loving it.

Maybe write down the subs on a list and do them all at the end?

Yeah, we feel the same way, but we're kind of "in it" now. We can't NOT welcome the subs (and they seem to wait for Kathleen so she can do her commercials).

Maybe holding them until a big batch at the end works… I don't know. We'll think about it.

That was a great ep (sorry I had to wait and watch the recap; unexpectedly getting called in to work prevented me from watching it live).

Firstly, the Redshirt game sounds FASCINATING - I wonder if the dev was inspired/worked with John Scalzi...

Second, I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist capping this:

You know, it's things like this that make me glad I'm not famous enough for anyone to want to video my every move and then make GIFs of whatever they find that looks a little funny.

These are hilarious though, and I suppose when your goal is attention and the money that theoretically comes with that, any attention is good...or something...

By now I'm sure they don't take any offense by it. All in good fun, especially Graham. He has to expect this. He gives us so much to work with :)

Funny faces I make intentionally are a little different from my "speech impediment face", but whatever it's all in good fun.

Like I said, "Im going to hell for this one" but I didn't think you would be to offended. Also I feel if I had made the gif to mock or make fun of it would be different. Your very open about the speech impediment so I figured it was ok.

Also I love the expression in this one :)

Oh Foxmar, teach me your .gif-making wizardry.

No, seriously, how do you make them?

Can't Wear Hats is the .gif wizard, I just use a program called GifCam.

Here is a link to the website to download it. Its free and very basic to use. Don't expect anything fancy with it.

Cool! Thanks, Foxmar. On a more practical note:

I think this is a really good idea, Graham. It's hard to get a conversation going when constantly having to stop to welcome subscribers. So I think it'd be smart to end, say, ten or so minutes early, say "And now we'd like to thank everyone who subscribed!" then do your thing. Makes sense to me, and a win-win for everyone.

I agree about the subscribers shout outs, Maybe saving them all till the end would give more time to talk about all the stories and for Kathleen to prepare for them more.

Reminds me I need to go back and find mine. I still haven't seen it and I subbed day 1 of Loading Ready Live when Twitch just wasn't displaying the subscribers. I was told they did do mine and I just missed it.

And photoshop when I'm feeling fancy

Just adding another voice of approval to the subscriber plan, it definitely makes a lot of sense for Checkpoint+ since the post-show is meant as a discussion and the subs do seem to hold things up a little. Plus, it should help reassure new subs that they'll definitely get their shoutout.

Come to think of it, it'd be easier for people like Foxmar who missed their shoutouts to dig them up again.

Nah, it can't be.

If I were a warlock master of time and space, I would use it to grant myself the ability to wear hats, not make .gifs.

Thats just it... HE CAN WEAR HATS! A WIZARD HAT! He chooses not to so that no one will know he is a master time traveling interdimensional gif wizard!

My theory is supported by the many clones you may have seen running around Twitch recently. They are all Can't Wear Hats from different times and planes of existence coming together to watch Loading Ready Live and plot more gif creations.
This explains how he posted gifs during Desert Bus only seconds after the event took place!
