I didn't see much of it, but Transistor really seemed like it was trying it's hardest to be Bastion to me. It feels like it has a similar style of art direction, gameplay, even the narration. Are they made by the same people?

If you enjoyed one, you'll enjoy the other.
I enjoyed the optional turned based combat as I enjoyed doing that in the Dragon Age games (DA1. DA2 you kinda only pause as a Mage to aim AoE spells as stuff spawns).

Re: Video Games with Video James
So, this Thursday I'm going to be streaming for 12 hours. Starting at 8:00AM PDT - 5:00PM PDT will be Video Games w/ Video James, at which point we'll hop over to LRRMtG with a guest player. What I want from you guys right now is suggestions as to what to play for those first 9 hours of stream time.
Re: Video Games with Video James
Play a game called Geneforge. Because I recommend this to everyone.
But since that isn't likely, play Mount & Blade: Warband or Fallout: NV.

Play something you've never played before and try to get through it in one sitting.

Do we have options? What games do you guys have already that you would like to play?
Borderlands or Fall Out 3/NV could be fun.

You could always build a Standard deck on MTGO and play like a 6 player game with fans. That'd be fun.

I third Mount & Blade Warband.
Re: Video Games with Video James
I'd suggest somthing like Borderlands 2 could be pretty fun. You can party up with people if you want, and it's an amusing and fun game.

12 straight hours of Crusader Kings 2
Start as the lowly duke of a Province in Ireland, make your dynasty the rulers of the known world.
Plus, if you finish early you can import your save into Europa Universalis 4.
Also, Shovel Knight looks cool.

I would love to see you continue with Divinity: Original Sin. Especially if Adam is available for a co-op game.

I say continue with more Guacamelee for at least part of that time.

Yeah, a list of games you guys have + fan gifts waiting to be activated would be a good idea.

Re: Video Games with Video James
You could play like, half of Yahtzee's games.

Edit: And for a new suggestion Brutal Legend or Matt Hazard, as I was never able to see the end of those games myself.

Re: Video Games with Video James
You know what - if you're interested in adventure games, Yahtzee's first three Trilby games (5 Days a Stranger, 7 Days a Skeptic and Trilby's Notes) are worth playing, if only for the climax puzzle of Trilby's Notes. The last game is a definite skip, and the first two can be skipped as well as long as you get the sotry from Wikipedia or something, but Notes is really, really good.
Alternately, Dominions 4. If you're going in blind, the AI is probably an acceptable challenge and much hilarity will be had by all (at your expense ). Although don't go in completely blind, take an hour or two to figure out the interface first

Re: Video Games with Video James
A couple of suggestions:
- It would be great if you could have a rotating cast of co-stars. That would help keep things fresh.
- If you played smaller games you could actually finish 3 or 4 of them. I'm thinking things like
- Fez
- Transistor
- Stanley Parable (which would be really fun with chat input)
- a couple Telltale episodes (Walking Dead or Wolf Among Us)
- Myst (super old school),

Re: Video Games with Video James
Well, I remember you saying you were interested in Smite. I'd gladly watch you try to git gud at a MoBA, and Smite's my preference there. Plus, you could play games with fans! Just... the bots are really dumb and only good for learning how to play a character, so practicing on bots isn't the best idea.
Other tips I could give: the game has an "auto-buy items" and an "auto-buy skills" option for new players, which is handy. But you'll eventually want to turn that off when you're comfortable with what all the different items do and you know how you want to level your character.
