Adam's Gamehaüs

Postby James » 15 Jun 2014, 15:48

Join Adam every week as he takes his greatest video game shame head on. Notorious for only starting a game and never finishing it, watch as he ventures past those first few hours of that game he bought 6 months ago and played 2 hours of! Also expect the occasional MtG draft.

8 hours!? Now how am I supposed to keep up with replays like that? :P

There's a reason I have a standing rule not to watch replays. Only way I can get anything else done.

Fortunately, I caught most of Adam's stream live. That was an impressive run.

This train doesn't have any brakes. Or breaks. I'm pretty sure you could skip 90% of that stream and still not really miss much, haha.

Edit: All the warm feels that you actually watch the archived footage tho <3

Suddenly my "watch all the replays at 2x speed" plan doesn't seem so weird and crazy now, does it?

I think they're speaking words, but it's to a language still undiscovered by man. I'm up-to-date on replays AND a pioneer in linguistics! I'm sure the squeaking will eventually fade from my nightmares...

I find a good background fodder kind of playthrough. I've sewn 2 collars and 4 cuffs to this!

Thanks friends.

I forgot to mention on my last stream that I'm heading out of town for a week starting this Saturday (19th) but I'll be back in town on the 25th and playing (and hopefully finishing) Dragon's Dogma on the 26th!

I've been thinking about it for the past few days, as far as the next game on the list goes. I'm really aiming for games I haven't played before and the only thing I'd stream that I have is probably Diablo 3.

List includes:

Metal Gear Solid 4
Asura's Wrath
Tomb Raider
Final Fantasy 7 or 8
Dark Souls 2

I'm actually kind of leaning towards Dark Souls 2 but I realize that a large portion of the crew have played and streamed this already? I think. Metal Gear Solid 4 would be cool but I don't know how interesting that would be to watch.

Suggestions welcome!

Only Alex has streamed Dark Souls 2 actually.

It is easy to see how anyone could make that mistake, what with half the crew having played Dark Souls 1.

My vote would likely be for FF7 or 8. But I'm fine with whatever. My main concern about DS2 isn't that it's been streamed already, but that a ton of people streamed DS1. Plus, a decent chunk of the chat might still have feelings about DS2 based on Alex playing it.

That said... whatever game you want to play and think you'll enjoy is the best choice. My favorite streams are just when the streamer is having fun.

I appreciate the feedback everyone! I'm trying really hard to be "good" at this, just in terms of providing an entertaining stream. I'm always open to criticism if there's something you feel like I'm not doing well. This is obviously entirely up to the eye of the beholder and I can't please everyone, but if there's something that bothers you about the stream I'd like to know ASAP.

I feel like Dragon's Crown was REALLY divisive when I played it on the second half of my stream. There was a lot of arguing (well, it is the internet so I can't really be surprised) but it was a big bummer for me to see people doing that. It also led into a HUGE discussion about science and religion that was super distracting and hard to pay attention to chat and interact with people. This is a situation I'd like to avoid in the future.

So, I think I'll be shelving Dragon's Crown and just play at home when I have the time. I fucking LOVE the art style and how the game plays though, and I'm a huge fan of the old school sidescrolling beat 'em ups.

I'll be starting Dark Souls 2 this week. I'm a solid veteran of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 so I have a good grasp on what to expect. I've played maybe the first 20 minutes of Dark Souls 2 then got distracted by... something. Wildstar, I think. ANYWAY. Let's crush this shit. Hopefully there`s some fucking tornadoes I can drop indiscriminately.

Adam: Relax, you're doing fine. What I've caught from your streams has been good and you're settling down into it well and are becoming part of my Saturday routine. Dragon's Crown...well, sometimes games can be extremely divisive really - it happens, but I think shelving it might be best, given that it seemed to stir up a lot of issues. If we need side-scrolling beat 'em ups, there's nothing wrong with a bit of retro Streets of Rage, just saying ;)

Looking forward to Dark Souls 2. Should be good!

Sometimes the chat just goes off on tangents, and you can ignore them, or ask them not to, and they're usually chill about letting stuff drop :)

Doing homework on some Faith builds and getting help from random nice folks on Twitter. I'm planning on (hopefully) finishing Dark Souls 2 in a relatively quick manner, as I want to stream the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls console release when that happens. I think it's on August 19th, so I'll be under the crunch a little bit. I think we're in for another long one on Saturday.

That 30-45 minute spell from finding the Executioner's Chariot boss to finally killing it was incredible viewing last night.

I felt like it was the total opposite when I was playing it haha. The wheel's were really coming off the stream at that point.
