Magnum is hired to act as a bodyguard to a testy ballerina. Graham and Kathleen have some script suggestions for the Magnum writing team.

HOLY CRAP! Magnum finally got arrested for killing someone....and then immediately gets released. I went in expecting this to be a terrible "magnum has to protect unwilling/annoying client", but it was a bit better than that. Not much though, I felt the story was a bit all over the place...and that kiss scene was just odd.

Robin Masters seems an eccentric enough millionaire that he would have guard-cats instead of dogs. And Higgins would be the cat trainer -- the skills developed through his long storied life as a man of adventure.

I can just imagine the episode. Magnum picks the lock to the gate of the Estate and dive-rolls over to one of the cars. He hears a "mew" and looks over to see a gigantic cat, staring at him out of the bushes. It doesn't move, so Magnum just shrugs and turns back to the car, narrating a quip about how nobody uses cats as guards because they're cats. But that is when Ares lands on him from a tree, pinning him to the ground and purring. Hephaestus lies on his legs, his long sabre claws poking through Magnum's jeans. Higgins walks up to Magnum, looking smug, and starting an anecdote over how he was assigned as a cat-trainer for a sultan during his tour of the Middle East. Magnum says something along the lines of "Where did Robin get these cats? Some kind of government lab?"

I thought this was +1, with how they portrayed Chase. K and G talk about it during That Scene.

The bit I had a problem with was the side plot of the camera lens. Are we really expected to believe that Magnum had the camera (+lens) for so long that Robin Masters came back, borrowed it from the guest house, lost the lens, and put it back in the guest house, all without either Magnum noticing or without Higgins asking for it back sooner?

Surely Magnum would know what lenses he borrowed when he got the camera, and surely if Robin Masters wanted the camera, he would have got Higgins to find it for him instead of lifting up the sofa cushions trying to find where it he left it last?

I got the feeling it was more like, Magnum borrowed it and used it (camera case had multiple lens in it) but forgot that when he took it one was missing. So when he went to return it, freaked out that one of missing and assumed he'd lost it. On the whole though, it was a pretty silly sub-plot, you would think a PI would remember something like that.

Is it safe to assume that MR will be put on hold? Congratulations, by the way.

Entertaining podcast. One possible tweak when doing a long series like this would be to do the episodes in order by IMDB rating, alternating between highest rated and lowest rated.

But... they're watching them in order, like they would've first appeared.

Graham and Kathleen have said they will return to doing Magnum Rewatch once Penelope is a bit older.

Oh dear; something belatedly occurs to me.

Of course, I realize the likely reason is to wait until she's old enough to be trusted to safely amuse herself (in her room, or whatever) while G&K are doing the re-watch 'recording'.

...what if they were waiting for Penelope to get to an age where she can appreciate TV shows like Magnum P.I. and would then watch along with them?

Yeah, fanciful idea, but what if? :)
