Re: Duty Calls
I would definitely be Paul in this instance if I was given the same quest in real life.
I wonder if you guys were mistaken for vain LARPERS who need record all their lightning bolt action for their other LARPER cohorts.

Re: Duty Calls
I have to admit, I'd probably be Kathleen in this instance - a disgruntled Archangel with a pretty poor sales pitch. "Will you just get out there and go already! Do you think I have all day for this!? Do you know how many quests I have to give out!? I have a quota to meet! Go!" XD
Very nice work! Loved the stinger at the end too.

Re: Duty Calls
I think I'd be Graham in this instance, slaying a dragon, getting a reasonably attractive maiden and killing a wizard? Sold!
Awesome work guys, I love seeing Paul being skeptical about stuff. Maybe it's just me but he seems to pull it off really well.

Re: Duty Calls
My response would have been similar;
'you have been chosen by the sword of...'
'Chosen? I just found this, an inanimate object, in a bush - how was I chosen exactly? I mean, someone probably just dropped it, I think I'll leave it here in case they come back.'

Re: Duty Calls
I think this is the Anti-Litch Kings Wrath. Paul refuses the quest given to him by Kathleen. So the outcome and roles are reversed.

I'm getting flashbacks to the "Help, help I'm being repressed" scene in Holy Grail.

Re: Duty Calls
I'd be similar to Graham, but with one question:
Do I get to have sex with the fair maiden before I'm martyred?

The stinger covered what I was thinking, so I'm happy now.
Re: Duty Calls
I love this one. The cranky and impatient divine messenger is a woefully underused trope in fantasy quests.
Re: Duty Calls
Good stuff.
In Paul's place I would have told Kathleen to take the sword to Gwenivere so she could save herself!

Re: Duty Calls
Holy shit, that was AMAZING. I didn't think anything could top last week's, but I was laughing throughout this. Kathleen and Paul, you nailed the delivery. And Kathleen is so frantic and looks so silly in that wig! Oh man. I love it, I love it so much.
A+++, super excellent.

Re: Duty Calls
Paul likes doing these sorts of roles, doesn't he? His performance in "The First Rule" springs to mind...
Personally I would have asked Archangel Gabriel(le) why she, being an Angel and all, couldn't just take the sword herself and kill the mighty dragon. I mean, you can clearly teleport, lady. It wouldn't take that much time.

Re: Duty Calls
wait, did Kathleen say that Arthur saved England from the French in the 6th century? Because the French didn't invade until the 11th century. And they won. Also, why do these English peasants have north american accents?
Apart from that, pretty awesome! I probably laughed more at the last line (the one about tithing) that anything else because i'm a nerd.

'and drove back the French'
I was happy with the Saxon bit, although they didn't really invade as much as settle...

Re: Duty Calls
Yeah, I got confused about the "and drove back the French" thing too. But the most important part is getting to see Paul without glasses, which isn't that common.

I actually thought it was someone else until they showed his face close-up.
Re: Duty Calls
That's not the only problem with her story guys. Note we said "Arthur's sword", not excalibur.
And how is it that he's saving Lady Gwenivere (who's not from Arundel) if Arthur's already dead?
Also, there's dragons.
It's clearly not accurate to the real legend.

Re: Duty Calls
well, dragons are real, so i'm not sure how that advances your argument.
I'm not asking for legendary accuracy, merely historic. France can't even be said to be a country until much later than the 6th century. These things are important* damnit.
*please be aware that these things are not, in fact, important, because I understand that this is comedy, and history isn't funny. My tongue is lodged firmly in my cheek, which makes speech rather challenging.
