Matt wrote:if you hadn't learned on the fractions, you probably wouldn't find them easier to do. base 10 decimal calculations are far more efficient, simply because converting them requires no changes to the numbers themselves; which makes it faster and easier to do the calculations in your head. I'd put forward that most anyone trained on the decimals could do that calculation without even consciously making the conversion, which you couldn't do with the fractions.

so how done one know 10mm goes in to 1 cm without being taught? I'm sure many people see "10mm" & the first reaction is "0.1cm". I, naturally, converted 11/16 to 22/32 once I saw that the other number was in x/32 form.

as long as there's different units used it must always be converted & increases the chance of mistake. If it was "1.7cm" & "23.6cm" I would agree with you... unless you compared it to 22/32" * 9 9/32". then there's still no conversion.

Eigther way, I prefer fractions. On the scale in my barn, do you know how much MORE space I'd need in my notebook if instead of "3 11/16lb" milk it would be 3.6875lb? (the fractions are written verticly, not horizontly so I use 1 number space as opposed to 4). :) Of course then it would all be in kg's anyway. Silly rest of world. :p

For people who don't bother to think with frations decimels, in general, are easier.

It's not a conversion. Millimeters and centimeters are in the same unit of measure: meters.

What matters is that everything's based on powers of ten, which is easier to work with than, say, sixteenths.

in reference to metric vs. imperial:
imperial is commonly used for height and whatnot because the change back to metric happened in our parents lifetimes, and they were already accustomed to using it - but since things like road signs changed, people got used to using kilometres or whatever.

In reference to the -re vs -er debate:

Matt is right. It should be -re. The American way is stupid and wrong.

And lastly, in reference to the video:

fabulous job, guys. I loved it. Paul, great script. You guys worked it well. And lately I have been looking at old videos - you are definitely improving in your acting phenomenally. Graham, you too!
I agree, the scream did not curdle nearly enough blood. Sorry, Graham.
I pose the question that was already posed - how did you get access to the pet shop?

Hmmm... Very good.
Although I was hoping you were gonna end the Dinosaur bit a little better, maybe with some more puns or something that explained (but didn't nesescarily make sense) away the reason that Paul is a Tyranosaurus Rex.
Bit of an anticlimax.

But it was pretty much funny all the way through this time.
Which is always good.

NB: I made a not of clicking the revver link at the end.
EVERYONE DO THAT ONCE PER VIDEO!

Good job guys. Loved the movie.

In my highschool, we have to write things in standard English (tyres = tires, aeroplane = airplane, metre = meter) because our papers and such are mailed off internationally to be graded (I'm in the international baccalaurette programme).

It's only click fraud if the number of clicks that a site gets is greater than the number of views that the videos have. Like, if everyone clicked twice, then the clicks would be twie as great as the video views, indicating that there was a fraud.

At least, that's my interpretation of it.

But if you're clicking just to give the site money and not because you are interested in the ad... isn't that the same thing?

Technically speaking, more than likely.

As far as we care, not really.

I suppose this is something Graham (or someone who knows) should step up and answer. :/

Please do not click the ads if you are not interested in what they are advertising!

We appreciate you wanting to help us, but that is exactly why we got kicked out of Google Adsense.

And I ask again, is Neil a reference to The Tick?

Click Fraud is up to Revver. It usually means people clicking on stuff just because, as opposed to what interests them.

Blast, I was going to say what Matt said (about "proper" spellings).

And tyres=tires? REALLY?! Never heard that one..

Oh, and how tall did they say "T-rex's" generally are? was it 5'6"-6'?

Nice.

I think Metre originates from a french word. Which is why it's spelt that way. So blame the frogs not us.

Tell me: how do you spell the word that specifies the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables in a poem, verse, or song?
