Hmm. Well, it was good, guys. But when was the last time we had a video with no green screen? I mean, they're enjoyable, but I miss that old down-home actually-filmed taste. It's stretching my willing suspension of disbelief when the edges of Matt's face are blurring out.

Also, haha. I totally forgot that you update on Mondays now. It was a nice surprise!

Left wing is usually liberal and right wing is conservative.

Therefore, Fox would be right-wing.

Anyone else find it ironic that Fox SHOWED the 'sex scene' on their report?

RTTY decoded

Postby Casandro » 29 Jan 2008, 05:11

From what I could decode from that little RTTY sound you hear when Jim Stone presses the button.

It says (drumroll):

Code: Select all

YPY6661

or

Code: Select all

6066661

The teletype standard is a bit ambiguous on that.
The bits I was able to decode were:

Code: Select all

S01234S
___0101 garbled
0101011 Y or 6
0101101 P or 0
0101011 Y or 6
0111111 switch to letters
0111011 switch to numbers
0101011 Y or 6
0101011 Y or 6
0110111 switch to numbers
0101011 Y or 6
0101111 Q or 1

Now... what does that mean?

BTW, that was "hand decoded" from the spectrograph.

Hi all, I hadn't really heard about this news story until I saw your parody of it (Fantastic btw :D) but I clicked the link to the actual news story and I must say that I was offended as a gamer, a journalist, and just plain as a human being. I was embarrassed to share a job description (nevermind a few DNA similarities) with these sensationalist bastards. I'm hoping to get something written up about this in my new blog, perhaps I could digg it here if anyone was interested.

So yea been meaning to make an account since when ... around the Talk Like a Pirate video, but I'm a smidge lazy.

That said, while I will say that while your use of the green screen is a bit too noticeable (cutting off bits of heads and the like), it was a great parody. I got a kick out of it.

After FINALLY being able to watch this video in its entirety, I must say I enjoyed it - not terribly sure that I found the ending as hilarious as the rest, but I still pretty good.

What Matt said about 'people are more likely to have sex than be blown up' is pretty much what makes me angry about censorship. Kids can get into movies where people get their heads blown off, but they can't get into movies where they might see a boob.

WHY IS THAT WORSE??

Because their parents aren't afraid their kids are going to have their heads blown off, but they are afraid their kids are going to see a boob and want to see real boobs and catch a disease and get pregnant / get someone pregnant.

So they don't concern themselves with violence, because they see it as unreal and unimportant, but sex is very real and something they cannot control easily.

In Europe, where there was horrible violence everywhere within living memory that destroyed most of society, they're very uptight about violence. But sex is like nothing.

Another reason for me to move to Europe, if they ever fix that thing about getting delayed games, I'll move there ASAP.

I wouldn't. They're going to implode in a generation when there aren't enough young people to support their elderly.

Don't go to China, either. Their environment is collapsing.

India's in bad shape, too.

Don't even get me started on the US.

Best bet: move to a magic castle on the Moon.

I was going to say this almost verbatim, but it looks like I got beaten to it. it is very unlikely that a child will ever be in a position where they encounter extreme violence, but sex is virtually inevitable. since sex carries a significant risk, it should come as no surprise that parents would try to shield children from it - to keep them from engaging in it before they are responsible and mature enough to understand and handle the risk involved.

This is one of your better ideas

As you pointed out, no where is free from problems. It seems to me that you either accept/try to fix the problems where you live, or choose a different set of problems by moving.
