I think it's pretty obvious that they were wearing the official uniforms of Fictionalia, deep in the Theoretical mountains, on the continent of What-we-happen-to-have-on-hand.

Come on, do your research! I bet you didn't even enhance the pixels in the background of High Noon. If you had, you would have noticed that the bowling trophy is from Fictionalia's division three bowling championship.

I never said they were Canadians either, actually.

In fact, Fictionalia sounds like the best bet yet.
It needs a flag.

That's a terrible flag.
Great start for a map, though.

I imagined the flag as one of the traditional ones that feature three vertical stripes. I was thinking of Greenscreen Green, Bluescreen Blue, and then Greenscreen Green again.

It then occurred to me that such a flag would usually be invisible in Fictionalia, due to the unique atmospheric properties. And so my plans were foiled.

Edit: apparently that didn't prevent me from mocking up a version of the flag in the finest of MS Paints, and making it my avatar because I am too lazy to upload it normally. I reversed the design after a few minutes of mucking about.

Fine: Fictionalia has a flag.

Topical? Did I miss something? Are you calling it topical just because of the iPhone inclusion, because that seems like a poor argument.

No no, it's topical because of that paper-mill that blew up in Wisconsin yesterday. Didn't you all hear about that? LRR is apparently the new Nostradamus.

(I'm serious btw, my great-uncle works at the place. He's fine though, just his place of employment is gone is all. Oh, also 3 were killed 1 injured.)

I'm a bit late to the discussion, but the uniforms worn by Matt and Morgan do greatly resemble the uniforms worn by the Canadian Air Force, simply lacking insignia. Also, the same tie is worn by both sexes, and is a simple black tie (I had to borrow a female cadet's once, there was no difference as far as anyone saw, as I got away with it no problem).

That was intentional. I didn't translate the stick because a. it's direct dialog, rather than meta-humour (similar to the 'Who the hell are you?' line), and b. It would have resulted in an odd number of panels, which would have made formatting the comic harder (and I'm lazy like that)

Shit! I was just up there three weeks ago to Camp American Legion. You'd think I would have heard about it elsewhere... But thanks for the head's up. That's pretty awful.

I wasn't aware there was a difference in womens' vs. mens' ties.

But then, I never wear a tie if I can avoid it.(I can not tie a tie! Even when I follow the instructions, they come out WRONG somehow!)

I haven't worn a tie in...at least 2 years. For comparison I generally forget things so quickly I can scarcely remember what happened yesterday (Which is about 48 minutes ago).

Very much doubt I can remember how to tie them myself now.

Nope. It was honestly intended to be just some quasi-militaristic base of operations.
I'm going with Telaril's proposition of Fictionalia.

Fictionalia could be it's own small planet with an atmosphere which from the outside looks like what Earthlings believe to be the Moon, and in the core of this planet lies the orbiting underground bunker.
Edit: Whoa, perfect line length. Freaky.

Yes, but you have an excuse, don't you? The only reason I stopped wearing a tie to church was because I lost it. Of course, I never actually untied the tie in question, just slipped it open wide enough to fit my head through.

Tune back in on Wednesday for the first episode of Loading Time, a new LRR behind-the-scenes feature, by Proudfoot.

He was at the "Emergency Situation" shoot and has put together a great video that I'm sure you will all find awesome. Play your cards right, he might do more of them in the future.

People always complain or get worried when something scheduled doesn't happen.

Heck, in the case of video games, they complain that something hasn't come out on time so they can spend money on getting it.

I also put a bomb in his car and the car I swapped plates with, and gave each of them the detonator to the other car.
It wasn't as exciting in real life.
