Poker Before Dusk

Postby Graham » 26 Jan 2009, 15:40

I'm still convinced that poker commentators are just making up a large portion of what they say.
Hence this video.

There was a second there when you had posted and the video had not shown up on the main page.

Is this what you wanted the poker table for a month ago?

Also please do not ban hammer me for posting before watching like happened to the first post about this weeks Unskippable on the Escapist.

I watched it once...
then watched it again in a vain attempt to fathom.

I've only played poker a few times... though I'm not very good at it.

However, I propose a ruleset for No Limit Viking Secret Wildcard Poker.

Or at lease, I propose the construction of a ruleset.

YES. This would be awesome. It could be like that whole Star Trek 3D chess board. Perhaps on the wiki?

I understand Poker, M:TG, Uno, and Clue. But I don't think I'll ever be able to understand that clusterfuck of a confusing card game... but I'll try.

Funny video. The Elder Dragon Legend made me fall out of my chair laughing.

Glad to see no Pokemon cards.

this is freaky. I was actually thinking today that it would be cool if you did a parody on one of the poker shows....freaky I tell ya

Anyway, nice going. You should write down the rules for that game somewhere :)

Is it just me, or does Bill seems a lot taler then Paul in the last shot... I mean more then usual?...

What did we learn this week?

* The Therapist from the last video is not as specialized as we thought.

*There are poker ninjas. And they have a champion. So...there.

*The entire concept of "Viking's Secret" deserves some exploration.

* Lamont would have taken it if there had just been a Charamon in the flaps.

* If you've suffered a mild stroke that affects your speech centers, ESPN-8 may just have a career for YOU! Apply today!

* This is still less confusing than GURPS.

Is this what happened when Calvin tried playing poker with the same philosophy as Calvinball?

Although I see you're making a comical satire of the poker commentators, this video seemed more silly than witty.

I want more wit. D:

When it started I though I wouldn't find it that funny because I don't watch poker, but I actually lolled. I think you missed Top Trumps, maybe that's not a Candanian thing.

This video puts the Mornington Crescent: Tournament of Champions to absolute shame. I was already in a series of painful stitches when Vaevictis Asmadi pushed me over the edge. Good on you.

You can only use YuGiOh cards unless you're playing Chipotle-Louisiana style. Of if you're a really, really big chump.

Besides that, I was wondering why Bill didn't throw down any gold-chocolate saver chips? They count as a double-decker Chocula drawback anyway.

This reminds me of Canadian Ice Slideball Wrestling.

Do I win a nickel for the most obscure yet accurate and relevant reference in the forum?

While I've played all of the games there, Poker still confuses the hell out of me at times. Too many variations, too many things to remember, and I can't bring myself to care about it. That's why I prefer blackjack. And Magic. And Clue. And Uno. Yeah I kinda forgot where I was going with this there.

Great vid as always, but definitely on the pure silly side.
