Holy crap, that was amazing. Paul posted that seven hours ago, but it was like he was SPEAKING TO ME RIGHT NOW, AND I HIT REFRESH, AND IT WORKED HOLY CRAP.

Nice work, Paul! That was fast too. Cheers & beers to you, sir. Now I'll have to see if it works on signature text.

Score.

My only issue with it is that it's too good. I can see myself easily missing the spoilers that I may wish to have spoiled. You didn't even know this was here, did you?

Congrats, kudos and thanks, Paul! Image

He is still full of epic win, but I still think if he still had the beard he'd have done this more quickly AND worked out a way to implement sarcastic text. ;-) <j/k>

Good. It's about time you were punished for using the iPhone.

Unfortunately, the iPhone selection box doesn't actually reveal text in the same way as highlighting does on a regular computer. I will see if I can figure out a way to make it work.

This is a good point. I think I might change it to keep the text the same colour and change the background to match the text. That way it will be blanked out but be obvious that something is there.

Opinions?

What about an inverse of the quote box? So, a white bar with "Spoiler" inside it, with a light blue box below that. It should then be obvious that a spoiler has been inserted into the post.

Well, as long as someone says "Spoilers:" it really shouldn't cause problems.

Edit: Actually, Cade's idea is better.

That could work. The only issue with making it a block is that you wouldn't be able to to have a spoiler inline, it would automatically break the paragraph to insert the spoiler block (like quote does now)

This is true, but it wouldn't be a problem for me as I don't typically do spoilers that way. Of course, I can't speak for everyone else. I think if there's an understanding about how the spoilers tag works, people will likely be accommodating.

Well, inline spoilers would be obvious to spot, perhaps add a [spoilerbox][/spoilerbox] tag for large blocks of spoiler text?

I was all for Cade's suggestion, then Paul's concern made me hesitate but still prefer his 'anti-quote box'...

...then Karmic Knight's compromise sounds FAN-dirtyword-TASTIC; <spoiler> for inline stuff, and <spoilerbox> for stuff on its own that otherwise might be overlooked. The latter has been used in some form or another in more forums I've seen than the former, but both have their advantages so why spurn one for the other?

...well, apart from making more work for ya, man - sorry.

Well, that's your problem.

Dunno why I did that.

And I have a huge rodent problem.

Let's just do this! Say something horrible, but when unspoilered, it's actually innocuous!

I was atArby's and I saw a woman's purse drop. Iplaced my hand to grab it and someone said "His hand!" They thought I was stealing it. So I had to escape through the kitchen! Can you believe it? This is why women shouldn't leave the kitchen.
