Hey kids, I'm writing to each and every one of you

Postby Brad » 22 Apr 2010, 14:26

Hey LRR folk,

It occurred to me that I've done my bit to stay in touch with friends back home, but I've pretty much been ignoring this crowd because they're not on my facebook and there's only so much that can be said in 120 characters, and Bradlestar Galactica takes too goddamn long to edit.

Get yourself a coffee, would you like a cookie?

I'm good. My thesis dissertation topic has been turned down again and I'm to start writing in ... 5 days, but other than that and a cold all is good.

So how are YOU?
All hail the great deku tree!

I'm about to finish my first year of university but for 2 exams and in 22 days I'll be off to see my girlfriend for a week. That is, I am departing to see here less than an hour after my last exam. Ah, good times.

New phone - Good :)
New monitor - BETTER :)
Dual Monitor Set-up - Best part of my day.

Seriously... my research will be so much more efficient with the extra workspace. I'm to come up with a thesis topic by the end of this summer, Brad, so I understand the frustration.

And I'm saving up lots of money to see my girlfriend.

I'm working part-time in a small video game company. I'm their social networker, play tester and I develop some ideas for consideration.

Im about to hand in my dissertation and have exams on the fourth and fifth of May. But Im currently working in a job that I really like and am happy to stay in for the duration. I have intentions to learn video and become like youseld.

Braddle though! No more Galactica? Im sorry that I couldn't make the play but if theres any other UK meet ups I think you will always have an invite. If you don't promote one yourself.

Seriously though, a Brad instiagated LRRathon? Talk about your high attendance!

I'm working on my final project at college, appropriately named the Final Major Project, and making fairly good headway. I'm a little worried that I won't get everything done in time, but I'm confident.

I'm also thinking about making comics over the summer and trying to sell them online to help pay to visit Canada, because I hope to move there and I figure it'd be a good idea to see what it's like first.

I've also started up a Dungeons and Dragons night with some friends and my brother, so that's pretty cool. I don't get to play, unfortunatley, because I don't think any of the guys would be up for it/up to it, but hey. It's still a lot of fun. :D

Today I'm pretty aggro. I just got 3 bills in the mail, and still no call from my job as to when I start this year. Which means if I don't hear from them tomrorow, which I likely I wont.. I won't be starting till May 11th, with a one month hold on my cheque.. SO I won't be getting paid till June. So this means I have to go back to working a really awful job with shitty people for the time being.

GRRR.

Not without money I'm not! Hence why I'm so aggro over the job thing. I am paying for the wedding myself.

It's just me having a bad day.. I'm very squeee about getting engaged. Even if it means having a wedding in my undeveloped basement ;)

I'unno.. it's amazing what a shoestring budget is actually capable of. Ok, so it won't be fooling anybody into thinking it's a church or anything, but your basement could look really great. Unique, even. ;D

I hope you hear back 'cause .. I just want people I've never met to have nice lives. I'm just like that. Hope things work out for you, Siobhan. :)

Currently a tad out of the loop. Jet lagged, if you will, and actually somewhat wounded and slowly healing.

My mind is a little fragmented these days, but I'll reunify at some point in the near future. Gonna take things slow, rest and relax and whatnot while I leave all my normal hazards and duties on autopilot.

I called in a minor favor or two, and am expecting to get the Parisian bolthole rebuilt this week. Maybe sometime next month I'll get around to settling it proper and checking the wards before I give full use of it to Azuma. This one should be far more isolate and less prone to negative resonances. Wish it had a bigger kitchen, though.

Other than that, I'm terribly saddened that I've been depriving myself of LRR and vice-versa, but life comes at you like a charging platypus and sometimes you just have to make some exotic sushi.

Hey Brad, dude you've never met speaking.

I'm the fourth person (I think?) in the thread so far to be at the end of first year of university. However I have 5 exams, so blah to the rest of you.
Over the summer I am hoping to get an internship with a startup game company.

Edit: Desert Bus for Love? That'd be AWESOME!
Often outnumbered, never outpunned.

Note: in Ireland 'ye' is used as the plural of 'you'. It rather neatly avoids confusion online.

Aww, thanks buddy! I appreciate that. I don't mind having a DIY wedding. I kinda like it that way becuase I save money and I can keep it more personal rather than being all Martha Stewart decor. I'm pretty stoked on it. Just the job thing has got me becuase if I end up having to wait to get hired, I only have 3 months to plan and pay for a wedding. While planning and organizing a calendar. Also while planing and organizing an award show. I love being busy, but I expected to have my own stuff a little more under control at this point. It jsut puts me out of the loop 2 extra months!

My biggest problem right now is the ceremony location. We can't get married in a church :( Calgary outside in October is very IFFY. I would LOVE to do it at a farm. Just finding a farm to do it at has proved to be difficult in itself!

He's Protestant. I'm Catholic.

His dad is a pastor and will eb the one marrying us.

So far, every church/chapel we have contacted needs this:

1.) For you to be a member of their church.
- can't do because we are both a member of his fathers church in VA.
2.) For you to take their marraige classes
- Can't do because the groom is in a different country up until a couple days before the wedding day.
3.) For you to use their minister
-Can't do becuase the ONLY thing Wraith asked was for his father to marry us
4.) For you to present your legal marraige certificates
-Can't do becuase while we are having the white wedding and ceremony/reception in canada, and for all intents and purpose it is THE wedding (spiritually under God), we are legally getting hitched in America under a finacee visa with a JP.
5.) For you to be of the same faith.
-Can't get married in a Catholic church if you aren't Catholic. And again... the protestant churches you NEED to book THEIR pastor.

Edit: The only place I've been able to find is a place called Prince of Faith in calgary. I'm goign to take a trip up there to check it out soon. *fingers crossed*

Maybe a long shot, but if Wraith's dad were to contact the pastor of a church of the same denomination as his own in Calgary they might be able to work something out?

That is a big long shot considering all the churches have clearly stated they use their pastors, and they be legally done up.
It's not just that hoop we have to jump through though.

I've emailed the PoF church that is basically my last hope at a church wedding.
