Those Songs You Can Relax To

Postby Elomin Sha » 22 Apr 2010, 04:31

I was wondering what songs you all can just sit, listen and relax for a long time with out changing song.
My choice would be Blade Runner Blues by Vangelis.

LoTR:Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack (Howard Shore), with a few tracks removed. :)

Yes, I do listen to individual songs, sometimes.

Pretty much anything by Mike Oldfield.

Most of Explosions In The Sky's discography. Tbh, I can sit back, relax and listen to virtually any post rock band and be happy.

Excpet Mogwai. They have to be tunred up loud and I have to rock out a bit.

I can just sit back and absorb most of porcupine tree and pink floyd. Part of the reason why i love them.

What, just one song over and over again? Surely that just makes you get fed up with the song.

Matt, you just gained many awesome points on my mental leaderboard.

For me: anything by Modest Mouse or Led Zeppelin.
Often outnumbered, never outpunned.

Note: in Ireland 'ye' is used as the plural of 'you'. It rather neatly avoids confusion online.

And the Prague Phillaharmonic Orchestra.

A Rainbow in Curved Air by Terry Riley. I can just set the entire album to repeat & drift away on wings to worlds unknown. Sample.

Kings of Convenience, The Whitest Boy Alive, Little Dragon and the Machinarium soundtrack all do it for me, relaxation-wise. So, basically all obscure European stuff (KoC are from Norway, WBA shares its lead singer with one of KoC and is also from Germany and Poland, Little Dragon is from Sweden and Tomas Dvorak who composed the Machinarium soundtrack is from the Czech Republic).

I also listen to Kyuss a lot. Also to relax. I have no idea why. (an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAXGu81Rk1g ). Listening to an entire Kyuss album in one go is something you have to hear to believe.

This is my song of the moment... it fits my move back to Missouri, returning to the place where I truly grew up (my alma mater University)... OG and Ann-chan, if you see this, this is the song I quoted on FB that you commented on. It IS Heavy, as my Uncle Jim said.

"The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert.

This song has been on repeat streaming out of my computer for a few days now. Kinda... reminds me that I made the right moves, that I am where I should be... that I'll be able to find myself again.

Okay... didn't mean to go quite that deep.

Right now, Beirut. My friend just introduced me to them and they are awesome. Here's a few youtube links to their songs. Keep in mind they're performing them live in the videos (which I think makes them awesomer)

Cool! I didn't know there was a video for One Inch Man.

Hey, talking of Kyuss, I suppose I could stand to listen to one of the tracks off Welcome to Sky Valley (i.e. three or four actual songs) on repeat.

Have you listened to the extended versions of the LOTR soundtracks? It is much better than the standard ones.
