Re: This thread is so gay
I'd say honesty is probably the best policy Fenrir, remember that assertiveness is sexy and let him know how you feel
As I now realise that you posted that two days ago, I hope you went for it.
Admittedly, I'm hetero, but I think it's safe to assume that this advice transfers well between the circumstances.
Edit: Hmm. New page. I blame King Kool. °Strikes an innocuous pose°

Re: This thread is so gay
All perfectly valid responses, and yeah - at least I know his sexuality. I think I get along alright with his sister too though we haven't spoken for that long. I guess that's a plus, right?
What did kind of catch me off guard, silly as it is, was his off-handedly referring to me as 'chèr' (read : Dear) when we were discussing politics of all things. So, as a test, I did the following...
Me: Heh, which is kind of adorable But, hey, if you've got the knowledge base there then why not, right?
Dude: Adorable?
Me: *shrug* I like seeing people getting to be nerds about stuff they clearly have an avid interest in?
Dude: Fair enough
Dude: That is just not usually a word people apply to me
Me: I'm apparently not most people?
Dude: Apparently not
So yeah. I think I'm going to play it by ear for now and decide from there.

Considering it's the gay thread, I'm assuming you're male, Fenrir? If so, the male spelling is "cher", for your information

Re: This thread is so gay
Well it had to happen eventually. I went to the front page of Steam today and what do you know, someone made a point and click game where everyone is gay.
It's called "My Ex-Boyfriend the Space Tyrant" and apparently it's "A superb blend of comedy, drama, romance and mystery"
What do you think, dear internet, is this offensive? Because it seems offensive to me, but I'm pretty Steve-y so I dunno.

I hope it's not offensive, because I really want to play it. I like goofy adventure games and it seems to fit. But I guess I need to see how the "gay-themed" aspect is treated. I mean, if they just happen to be gay, fine. If everyone is a weird stereotype, then it might be uncomfortable to play. Then again, people tend to be weird stereotypes in adventure games to begin with.

It's looks like not something I enjoy myself. I'm judging solely by the screenshots. Feels like it's being gay and sexy.

Re: This thread is so gay
So I've decided to ask people to use the correct pronouns for me here and I'm a little nervous. I wasn't sure where to post it because I can't remember if we have a gender-things thread, so here seemed like the best place.
Also, hi?

Hello! Also, between this thread and the feminism thread, I'm really starting to think a gender thread wouldn't be a bad idea.

Hmm, perhaps there was, but not in the time I've been on the forums. Even if there was, and it did end badly, perhaps one would be safe now? The topic certainly is becoming one that people are more willing to explore these days, and I think the discussions in both this thread and the feminism thread have shown the community to be mature enough to handle these conversations.

Can I still refer to you as "that adorable person that I finally got to meet at LRRCon"?

stop it you'll make me blush. Yes you can!
And yeah, I think a lot of the people who would have caused trouble in a topic like that have moved on.
EDIT: Uh, well, I found it, and it really didn't end well. So that's cool.

Yeah, the ones who derailed any talk/discussion about gender generally aren't around anymore, so I think a gender thread should be fine to have now.

Hmm... I found it too, and it's weird, it seems like the posts that started the downward spiral are all missing, but the plane crash at the end is definitely still there, and the instigator seems to have been a regular who still maintains some board presence.
Also, considering how vehemently they stated their bigotry and refused to budge, I doubt they've evolved on the matter, so perhaps it's not a good idea.

Re: This thread is so gay
Kathleen replaced all of their posts with cat pictures, so it's a bit hard to follow.
In other news, I asked my parents to use my pronouns and they gave me an hour long talk about how hard it is for them and how I'm "alienating people."

Ugh, why must parents be dumb, even when they're speaking out of concern for you, it's still facepalm inducing.

I suppose, perhaps the knowledge that they're trying to be concerning is a comfort? Their facepalming is coming from a good place. It's just they failed.

I believe I recall Met saying he disabled signatures a couple years back, so for his and anyone else who has done the same's benefit:
Edit: ah, good to see the memory is holding up.
