Hey, turns out there's more than one blond beareded young lad in my area of the same first name! I could have gotten the wrong person!

What's still true is their first name and our chemistry! Let's worry about what he does and believes in later!

You'd be surprised how hostile some of the LGBT community can get towards that word.

Went to the ceilidh again. He was there. Said hello, reminisced about last month. Friendly.
Asked my gay friend his review on the person of my affections, he said the person seemed that way.

Hey people. It has been a while since I was active here, just been too busy. But I thought I would let you all know things are going well. Hormones are going great. If it wasn't for all of you there is no way I could have gotten on hormones as early as I did. I just wanted to say thanks again.

So a wedding happened.

It feels good to finally be able to call him my husband. I'm at the age where saying "boyfriend" is starting to feel weird, and "fiance" always opened up into the awkward "oh, what's her name?" conversation.

But more than that, having a husband feels kinda... victorious? Like, I don't know how to describe it better than that, but it's definitely kind of a "we win" feeling? It's just great in a whole variety of ways. :)

I hear you on the title thing. Living with Stu makes 'boyfriend' seem too little and 'partner' seem too bureaucratic.

A gay friend of mine who I really like is about to start a PhD in America in September. He lives at the moment in England. He's about to visit my parts next weekend. I want to find out what vibe there is between us. When we had met before, it felt really good. I wished we had more time to casually chat over the internet. Him moving to America for 4 years really heightens my feelings.
If I feel like there is something possible between us, what could I even propose to him? If we lived nearby, I would ask him out. This is not the case.

I am considering the complications of the hypothetical thing and how it could affect him and myself. But, I know I would regret not trying. It just feels like we could have such a good thing. It's just the PhD and long distance adds a challenging aspect.

I feel like either outcome will be difficult, but I hope we could have something and it could work...

Well Merrymaker, my kneejerk reaction is to say "it's not worth it, it's bad timing and the long-distance thing is hard enough to swing even without being international."

BUT, if you already know you'll regret not investigating it, you should absolutely at least have a chat about it. That kind of regret sticks with you. Most end results here involve a rough to work out situation, but hell, if he's taking off to America anyway, what's there to lose?

I'll tell you what I did.

Him and his friends and me went pubbing on the Saturday. I felt out of place. Everyone was so loud, and I was being quiet. There were too many people there for me to be myself. He was busy talking to people. By the time there were fewer, people were very drunk. I did drag him out of the road, and I fetched him his jacket. So I hope he remembered that kindness.

Sunday was better. We visited a friend's kitten. Him and I chatted a bit in the doorway of a coffee shop. He gave me a lift to where I needed as he went to visit another friend before heading back. We had a quiet chat, and I realised that perhaps my quietness was helpful. I saw he was getting stressed over the move as well as the academic trip he was doing in between.

When we said goodbye, he said he plans to visit for Christmas. I told him "I wished I met you sooner". His reply was "There is still time".

So, in short, I don't know. I see I need to move on anyway, because I shouldn't wait for him. But there wasn't a no. I will keep being a friend to him, and let what happens happen.

Different person.

I might have found a guy, but I cannot say for sure, but it's the closest I have ever been to it. I feel very happy right now.

People who I confided with give me the advice of take it slow.
I'm still excited, but now beginning to deal with self doubt of worrying about accidentally alienating them or not indicating I'm interested in him. He's difficult to read. Either what we have is platonic but defies social norms of male behavior. Or, we are going to be in a relationship and this is early friend days.

I'm growing very confident, but I know it's too early. I've invited him to come with me to a dance in the next few weeks, and hopefully that would give an indication. We've exchanged conversation in messages, and it's either witty flirting or witty banter. I realise I have been initiating a lot of converse, so I need to dial it back.
