We have lots of other allegedly straight people commenting here so you don't have to run away.

A lot of people here started out as allegedly straight, so you never know.
And, just keeping you all updated on the Washington gay marriage law, governor Chris Gregoire signed the bill today. Rick Santorum was in attendance. Granted, he's campaigning out in western Washington, but he made a detour to Olympia just for us! Isn't that sweet?

Dear gay people:
Why don't you talk about your (gay) relationships in the BIG RELATIONSHIP THREAD?
I mean, it's not the STRAIGHT relationship thread.
We're inclusive!

But if we don't talk about relationships here, we won't have anything to say in this thread.

Not true! Unfortunately there are plenty of dumb politicians (and other people) saying and trying to do dumb things. Sometimes, though, there is happier news to report

Well, the lack of gay relationships in the Big Relationship Thread certainly isn't my fault. I pretty much have nothing to add to that discussion either way.

Re: This thread is so gay
The fact that Washington state has legalized gay marriage was pretty big news that only got a sort of passing mention here... so there is certainly stuff to talk about.
Yeah, and not everyone is in a relationship. :/

I've been posting updates on it, but evidently there were more important things to talk about. I feel that once it actually goes ino effect it wil be a bigger deal.

I've learned to be a bit reserved when faced with this kind of news. Yeah, it's great, but there's tons of past precedent that says that it could be reversed just as quickly.

SHHHHH, let me be happy while it lasts. Besides, the polls have been showing over 50% of voters would uphold it if it went to referendum, and that's if they get enough signatures in the first place. So, I guess I'm more cautiously optimistic.

Re: This thread is so gay
The frustrating thing is that until same-sex marriage gets nailed down at a very high level (perhaps even through a constitutional amendment), there's always a chance that someone will be able to get enough public support to challenge it at any level. Even a supreme court decision might not be enough.
I'm more of the opinion that marriage should not exist as a legal construct at all. Any legal benefits should be defined in terms of a domestic partnership -- if someone wants to attach societal or religious aspects to "marriage" they can do whatever they want. But I also think any attempts to do that would just blow up; it would be too easily attacked ("destroying marriage" and such).

Re: This thread is so gay
While the relationship thread and the sex thread are both open to gay, bi, etc people, I think it's still cool to have a place to go for things that are LGBT issues that don't really fit in other threads. And if that means also talking about things that would fit in the other threads, so what?
Plus you can always post it in both places.
I'm straight to, although both my partners have described me (individually and on their own) as a gay guy with a vagina. Not that I am trans either, so I'm not sure exactly what they mean by that. Also, I wonder if that makes them less straight.

On a bit of a different note, though, a marriage equality bill has been reintroduced into Parliament in South Australia. There's also another in Tasmania.

Been skimming this thread for a couple of hours, a lot more heavy than I figured it would have been...
At any rate, my one-year anniversary with my first ever boyfriend is creeping ever closer. After a few horrible relationships with various girlfriends whilst "in the closet", this is a really exciting occasion for me!

Aww... hooray and congratulations!
Yeah, this thread gets kind of heavy in parts. I feel like it should have a disclaimer of some sort.

Re: This thread is so gay
Hey I don't often check the forums but when Matt mentioned this thread on the main site it grabbed my attention and I felt like posting.
I'm Bisexual myself (and I'll add polyamorus on here too, though I'm currently single). That said some question my sexuality due to my lack of success with the male gender, but I identify myself as Bisexual because I feel I know my own desires, even if I've failed in executing them (coz the guys I seem to go for always turn out to be straight).
Polyamory... well up untill august last year I had two girlfriends. However due to pre-existing problems I split with the girlfriend I had been with for 6 years. It was originally her idea to go poly and while she'd had a few partners throughout the year we'd been Poly I didn't get a second girlfriend until much later. Then that relationship ended the sunday before Xmas due to completely separate problems. I remained friends with them both though, so the splits weren't as bad as they could have been.
To be honest, I'm not sure why I put all that, wasn't really sure what to put in the first post here

I have never gotten the label thing... except from survey but why would you put one on yourself?
I am mostly only to girls but I have seen some VERY rare men that I would have gone for.
I will go for whatever or whoever I think is hot.
