Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz
The results are in!
Congratulations to RebelliousUno who won with a total of 9 points.
I made a music quiz that you totally should take. It consists of 18 very short clips and your task is to find the artist and title for each one.
The winner gets honor, glory and a steam key for one of my favourite video games ever.
Quiz audio: https://goo.gl/LavFeX
Answers:
1. Harry Belafonte - Banana Boat (Day O)
2. Pixies - Here Comes Your Man
3. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Buffalo Solider
4. Modest Mouse - Float On
5. Gene Kelly et al. -- Good Morning
6. Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass -- Tijuana Taxi
7. Caramell - Caramelldansen
8. Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough
9. Lady Gaga - Poker Face
10. Madonna - Like A Virgin
11. Men Without Hats - Safety Dance
12. Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills
13. The Monkees - I'm A Believer
14. Dusty Springfield - Son Of A Preacher Man
15. ABBA - Mamma Mia
16. Millie - My Boy Lollipop
17. April Stevens - Teach Me Tiger
18. Europe - Final Countdown
The total number of correct answers was 88.
Number 2 was a bit of a curve ball since the opening chord is a bit similar to the famous Hard Day's Night chord, but it is not the same.
The only song that no one recognised at all was Good Morning from Singin' In the Rain. I choose to believe that it is because the intro in the record version differs a bit from the film version and not because you don't know your classic musicals.

I got like 6, and am not sure of 1. I recognized 1 other but couldn't place it.

Turns out that I am terrible at this kind of thing, so I was only able to put a name to 5 of them, and probably got those wrong, at that.

I did almost the same quiz on a long bus ride with some friends and I would say that about a third correct is a quite good result.

One song my guess went from the Who to the Beach Boys to the correct band.
Two correct answers. Third answer I went total knowledge nerd for a laugh.

Pretty sure I've got 9 or 10 correct. The other 8 I had no idea.

Wow, I don't know half this shit at all. I was able to get 3 but that was only because the 4th one I recognized I couldn't freaking remember who the song was by!

I'm fairly confident that I got quite a few of them, but I wasn't sure on artist for some of the ones I think I got. Nowhere near all 18, though.

Re: Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz
That was hard. I tend to be really good at recognizing songs from the first 1-2 measures, but some of those songs I either straight don't know or just couldn't place. Two of them I had to sit back and think and I finally got it. Pretty fun though! I definitely realize where my musical trivia strengths are!

Halfway into the competition, I can report that all but two songs have received at least one correct answer. Good job everyone.

Hmm... I know I got 7 of these, and I feel like I could get 2-3 more of them if I really do some digging, because I'm pretty confident on the bands.

Re: Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz
I've got 5 pretty-sures, a guess at a 6th, and two I almost know but can't quite place... I only know three of the artists, though, that's always been a weak point for me with music quizzes...
[edit] With the help of Google (big cheats) I figured out one of the two I couldn't place, and it's a song I don't think I ever knew the actual name for, so that makes me feel better that I couldn't place it. Also, it turns out the song I was thinking of wasn't actually the song in the quiz, so I'm back to square one with that one. Still stuck on the other one though...
Got: 1, 7, 11, 13, 15, 18 (know the artists for 7, 11, 13)
8 I thought I recognised but had no idea about the name, eventually find out and turns out I was wrong
10 sounds very familiar but I can't place it
I'd be somewhat disappointed if anyone here didn't get 7...

Re: Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz
Funny, I didn't get 7 when I heard it at first, but now, after I've submitted, I finally got it. My mind just wasn't in the right place for it, I guess.
I got 2, 4, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14
I am completely sure on all of them, as they're either songs that strike me just well known in general, or songs I personally enjoy.
EDIT: And crap, I just noticed some of my numbers were off. I wrote down 10, when the song I was actually answering was 11. Got the number mixed up, apparently :/

Volafortis, I will go through the answers manually anyway. If you have the right answer in the wrong box, I will still count it.

11 of those songs I've never heard of before, those that I do know I have never listened to.

Well, I got 7, and there were only about 3 songs that I've just never heard of, so I'm content.

Re: Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz
Ah, got tripped up by number 2. Never heard the song it actually was (I don't think the band had much presence this side of the pond).
I knew 5 was from a classic musical, but wasn't able to place it.
Anyway, it was fun. Congrats to Uno.
(maybe I should create one of these)

Re: Papperslappen's (quite hard) Music Quiz
OK, so I only knew of 7 of the songs on that list, and got 5 correct. Cool.
