Christmas Type Gift Exchange anyone?
I just noticed that PAX forums are already setting up their secret santa, so I was wondering, since we did it last year and it was pretty popular, would we want to try it again this year? I know Siobhan organized it last year, but I think we should at least see if there are any interested parties here this year?
If we go ahead with it, I think we'd probably start organizing it around early to mid November (about 2-3 weeks from now) so you all have time to think about it.
EDIT: Vote in your post below.

Tried to vote and it said "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again." So I donno. But yeah I would be interesting in it if its a world wide thing. I'm pretty sure I could afford to buy someone something.

Ummm... I don't know, can I get some more details on how it would work?

Very yes. I had a blast pulling together that gift for Program IX (if he documented the opening, I'd still love to see it ) & the little Lego car set from 2Stepz has brought me to purchase more new Lego sets than I care to admit (Technic FTW!) In other words, I'm in!
Also, the poll still doesn't seem to be working so folks should voice their interest in writing.
@Fezzul Generally an organizer puts the names of all interested parties into a hat & everyone involved is randomly drawn & assigned to someone else. They get their address & send a gift, & receive one from someone else as well. Usually a maximum dollar amount is determined ahead of time so it isn't financially taxing. If you're not comfortable giving out your address to one or two people in the forum, it may not be for you.

I would be interested, especially internationally. Nice touch of cross-cultural sharing and geekery.
The poll wasn't working for me, either, though.

Yep, twice in that thread and also once in the Dessert bus craft thread that can be found HERE. I made a boo boo on the months in that one so I just edited it. (For some reason I had begining of OCT and end NOV)
I'm still planning on doing it but I'm not taking any names down right now. I'll make an official thread for it starting in November. Is that cool, Tak?

I'd be more than willing to do a gift exchange again. For the most part, despite the fact that someone never fulfilled their commitment and I never got anything, I had a blast putting together a care package for metcarfre. I wouldn't mind doing that again.

Well van, to be fair, if other countrys postage is anything like aus post, unless you send it registered there's about a 50% chance of it going missing (READ: It was dropped on the floor and whoever picked it up pocketed it.)
Seriously, go read some of my older vents in the old ventind thread, i've lost well over $200 in selling things because of the way paypal is setup and people not paying the extra $10 for registered when they buy them.

Re: Christmas Type Gift Exchange anyone?
Actually, Bard, the person who was suppose to send me something during last year's Secret Santa simply didn't send anything. I'm not going to name names, but he said as much, promised to make up for it, didn't, and to this day still hasn't read the message I sent him on the subject after he requested that I message him.
Rocket, I don't know if I have any kind of "veto" power here, but since you know who this person is I'd suggest that he not be included lest someone else get shafted.
