Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
Cake I made in class on Thursday. The writing for the second one was better, but I had put that one away before I remembered to take a picture.

I put a frozen pizza in the oven.
Playing violin along to Nemo - Nightwish, Sovngarde Song - Miracle of Sound and singing along to Amnesia - Miracle of Sound was enough time to well-cook it. 1/10 was burnt, but the rest was very much cooked.
Yummy and musical.
I might forgo using timers now. I'll use music as a way to measure the passage of time.

I made empandas de dulce de membrillo. That's empanadas filled with quince jelly or paste, which is a very common pastry filling in Argentina. Quince empanadas are a traditional dessert served in national holidays such as today. My mom used to make them and I like to keep the tradition.
For the record, the high levels of sugar crystals in quince jelly cause the paste to heat up pretty quickly & extraordinarily, so it's best to leave it cooling for a while. It can otherwise cause severe burn degrees.

Worked for Hudson Hawk.
Zyxst had an impulse for quiche, so we got tart shells, eggs and extra cheese. (the full size quiches we've made in the past never 'set' and were too watery, so we figured the smaller tarts might have a better chance of cooking through properly.)
Today is a day off, and she asked if I wanted her to help experiment for lunch - 'breakfast tarts' - pseudo-quiches, I guess.
Pop the shells in the oven to prep them, then fry bacon in a pan and get it nice and crisp, good for crumbling. Then almost completely cook scrambled eggs and mix the crumbled bacon in and fill the tart shells and top with some shredded cheese, then just another few minutes in the oven and 'A LARGE VIOLIN!'

I should stop reading this thread, Vis' and Minnichi's food always looks amazing and makes me hungry.

I think it's supposed to make you inspired to go out and make your own amazing-looking food and eat it yourself. In theory, anyway - in practice, I've found that cooking involves a startling amount of work.

I usually find I'm not longer hungry by the time I'm done cooking.

Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
I actually did this a week or so ago, but didn't post it at the time.
I know my cookery does not rise to the level of others in this thread but I still think it turned out pretty amazing.
(Here is the recipe, for those interested.)

My friend made me huckleberry jam right before she had her baby. So tart and delicious!

It was delicious, although I imagine your mileage will vary on the gin; I thought it was good, a friend thought it was a little overpowering.

I made sushi, all by myself! yay!
Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
I poured spaghetti in tomato sauce over a grilled cheese toastie and ate it with my hands. All of it. It was the best meal I've had in days.

How so? I would totally share my sushi but I doubt it'd arrive there in good conditions. (Also, I ate it all)
Re: Foods What We Have Made And Eaten
I'm vegetarian but thanks for the offer. And with my health lately it's been a struggle to eat and keep anything down. I'm even starting to lose a noticeable amount of muscle. Still, that is actually one of the reasons I got it! For times like this, I'll have that to fall back on. Because if I didn't, I'd get far sicker faster.
But I'm recovering now and my body screamed "EAT YOUR WEIGHT IN CHEESE!" So I got a grilled cheese toastie and I got a tin of spaghetti. Then I dumped the toastie on a plate, carried a hot pot of spaghetti over and realised "Oh fuck. I only got the one plate." So might as well pour it over! Then I WOLFED that bad boy down!
Glorious meal. Gone but not forgotten.
