The Encouragement Thread (compliments to Jester)

Postby Deedles » 01 Jun 2012, 10:37

Jester said in the Soothing Cuteness thread that we need a thread like this, and by God I agree!

And as this is the start of a thread that I hope will be heart-warming, supportive and inspiring I will start by writing a quote from the book The Art of Happiness by HH Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler.

"I think that this is the first time I am meeting most of you. But to me, whether it is an old friend or a new friend, there's not much difference anyway, because I always believe we are the same; we are human beings. Of course there may be differences in cultural background or way of life, there may be differences in our faith, or we may be of a different colour, but we are human beings, consisting of the same human body and human mind. Our physical structure is the same, and our mind, and our emotional nature are also the same. Whenever I meet people, I always have the feeling that I am encountering another human being, just like myself. I find it easier to communicate with others on that level. If we emphasize specific characteristics, like I am Tibetan or I am Buddhist, then there are differences. But those things are secondary. If we leave the differences aside, I think we can easily communicate, exchange ideas, and share experiences."

Here are the pictures that made me feel like we needed a thread specifically for them;

And then I found this: Boggle. "Boggle is worried about you. Boggle is also an owl."
It's quite lovely.

I was just going to post a load of these, but it seemed easier to do the link. Winnie the Pooh is just full of them.

And screw you, Jester. Just read through all of Boggle and now I'm crying. Some of those hit far too close to home.

In this case they also might see an owl, which is totally okay because here there is actually an owl.

(I have no affiliation with this I just feel it's worth sharing)

Edit: should probably also leave something encouraging as well considering the size of this thread necro so

Struggling brings endurance,
Sorrow teaches empathy,
Success allows generosity,
Scars give character,
Passion encourages inspiration,
Fear develops hope,
Strength enables support,
Isolation results in self-awareness,

What ever your situation or experiences they can be used to bring positives into the world for yourself and for others.
