日本語をれんしゅうしよう!
If there's a French one why not Japanese!
じゃ、ぼくは四年ぐらい日本語を勉強しています。でも、ぼくは高校をそつぎょうしてから、もう日本語が書くかはなしませんでした。だから、ぼくの日本語はまあまあです。
また日本語を勉強していますか。日本語が難しいと思いますか。しつもんをしつもんするかれんしゅうしてください。

Re: 日本語をれんしゅうしよう!
If anyone wants a nice little chart that helps them learn hirigana and katakana, that has nice pictures and a selection of words using those 'letters' I can scan one I have from one of my Japanese books.
Also, if you want to learn some Kanji there is a quite good book by this guy called Hisig. Some people love him, other hate him.
And Geoff, if you live in London, do you know about the Japan Centre near Trafalgar Sqaure? It's got a place called JPBooks there which provide nearly all the textbooks for my Uni's Japanese course.

Re: 日本語をれんしゅうしよう!
日本語を勉強した時は’Furigana'と言う事象を使いました。いい本だと思いますが少し高いです。
そして、http://jisho.org/と言ういいウェブサイトを使うことが好きです。とても便利です。
Words hurt man.
The learning materials I used at school were called 'Hai' from yrs 8 to 10 then we used Wakatta from 11 to 12.
Hai is more a workbook if anything else whilst Wakatta goes into grammatical structures and whatnot. Does not hurt having a good teacher or tutor though (that has enough experience in teaching it).

I'm really trying to make myself learn Japanese, but I don't really have a memory, so the only way for me to actually learn it is to go there and talk to people... Not gonna happen soon probably.

Re: 日本語をれんしゅうしよう!
I've been trying; I can recognise certain words and phrases, but I'm nowhere near the point of even trying to hold a conversation. I'm slowly getting there.

Re: 日本語をれんしゅうしよう!
I get very nervous in conversations in Japanese and it becomes very difficult for me. If I made it my sole aspiration then I'd be a lot better at it but I juggle enough stuff already. I believe you get to a certain point where you have enough of a grasp that you should spend an extended period in Japan and interact. I'm very accustomed to using polite forms so I have to think when it comes to plain forms and masculine and feminine speech, etc.

I have encountered thankfully few 漢字 so far in this topic that I don't recognize. I have a browser addon called Rikaisan which is quite helpful for those. Chrome and Firefox have equivalent extensions, though I forget which one is Rikaichan and which is Rikaikun.

私は色々な所に行った。京都と東京に行って、東京ではにぎやかすぎることだと思うので、京都が東京より好きだ。でも、また、庭や神社はすごい。たくさん人は日本で英語を話せて,時々、あなたと英語をれんしゅうする。心配しない。

Maybe it's time for a 'speak your preferred non-English language' thread?
