Guitar Hero Modding Help

Postby Number09 » 19 Nov 2007, 21:20

Heyhey,

For an upcoming project I would like to take the insides out of my boring SG controller and put 'em in a Les Paul body because I'm going to have too much time to kill over Christmas break and because I'm cheap.

So what I would like to know are the demensions of the Les Paul controller.
I just need the demensions of the body.
Length, width and how thick it is.

Thanks guys. :)

As to how I'm going to be making the body, I'll probably make it out of insulation foam and fiberglass.
Or cardboard... Using this dude's (he's got some pretty KICKASS stuff) method:

And the neck will probably made the same way as the body or I might get lazy and hack off the neck of my SG, repaint it and somehow attach it to the new body. Maybe. Don't know yet.

The new guitar that comes with the Wii version (and the 360 version?) or GH3.

You're going to want to make it out of something much more sturdy than cardboard, unless you're planning on some kind of resin hardening. Cardboard layering can be pretty cool (it's like that laser-rapid-prototyping technology) but it's best suited for static or limited-use display models as far as I'm aware.

I don't know about you, but I thrash pretty hard on my Guitar Hero controllers - if you want to make your own controller you'd be much better served using some kind of resin or fiberglass moulding.

Or head down to the pawn shop, spend 50 bucks on a wrecked electric guitar and tear its guts out to turn it into a GH controller. That's one of my winter projects over here in the Frozen North...

I thought about buying a shitty guitar or one of those novelty guitars that just look cool but actually suck... But all the pawn shops in my area only have guitars that are $100+. Kinda lame.
