Okay so like a lot of people I was eagerly awaiting GTA IV and on the morning of release I was able to get a copy before going to work and even had a half day off so I could play it for a while (I was working late shift in work).
So I got the game, played it, did really well the first week of playing it, got to the second island, and then went on holiday for 2 weeks.
Since returning from holiday I have put GTA IV on once and the rest of the time I have been playing my PS2, and the games I have been playing have been:
God Of War
Jak and Daxter
Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus
Metal Gear Solid 2
Metal Gear Solid 3
And I have been able to get a copy of God Of War 2 for when I complete the first one. In fact the only times I have put on the Xbox 360 since coming back from holiday is once for a 10 minute game of GTA IV and then for 2 hours starting a new game in Mass Effect.
So while GTA IV is awesome the fact is, it is not a game I feel myself having to go back to and play, whereas rigth now I am torn between puting on Jak and Daxter or God Of War because both games have hooked me. And if I do turn on my 360 it is now to play Mass Effect.
Has anyone else had this happen to them, not essentially with GTA IV, just a game they were waiting for and when they got it, their reaction was "aw cool, this is awesome" then a couple of days later it is more "meh" than anything else?
GTA IV is out yay! But wait...

same with me and singleplayer games, i have super mario galaxy and twilight princess, but ive barely touched them, im not worried because i like having adventure games there for when im in the mood for them.
