Anyone into Horror?

Postby hauntedtony » 25 Aug 2008, 10:41

I stumbled across the They Wait myspace. It is some indie film, coming to DVD, that has this asian horror style. From the trailer it looks pretty crazy. Anyone heard anything, or know about it? Here is a link so you know what I am talking about

Val Kilmer was filming a climate change inspired horror flick in my hometown this past summer. It was supposed to take place high atop a deserted snowy mountain though, so no casting calls. You`d think they could have waited until winter..

That does look like a pretty sweet film - it seems to be getting the psychological side of Asian horror films down well, which is something western-centred movies never, ever seem to get

I'm going to the After Dark Horrorfest this year. I love the Horrorfest movies.

Last year's The Deaths of Ian Stone was really wicked awesome, and Mulberry Street was pretty alright. I haven't gotten around to buying the others yet.
I can't think of a signature.

Day of the Dead is one of my favorite movies, it kinda got me into the genre, i like the older horror movies, not really the modern shockers like Saw or anything like that.

I live for Horror. Most of my DVDs are horror movies. I haven't seen anything recently that has sparked me like some of the classics have.

That's because most "horror" movies these days are shockfests. They lack the psychological element of the classics.

Consider this signature a museum piece, since I love it and am unlikely to change it ever.

Watch Midnight Meat Train when its out on dvd. Very psychological and the gruesome parts aren't cheesy unlike most movies now of days.

Woooo Hellraiser movies!

I can't wait for Midnight Meat Train actually...

In the ... um... campy horror category (I guess), I have a soft spot for the first three Puppet Master movies, where the puppets are actually evil.

The movie Quarantine thats coming out soonish looks decent. Although im annoyed that the teaser made it look like a Cloverfield clone, and then the actual trailer was more like a normal looking movie, I'll still probably see it.

Woooo another pinhead fan. Anyways. Your wait for MMT will be well worth it. One of the few good horror movies in recent time though the Saw series isn't to bad compared to crap like hostel.

Of the three classic Romero films, I think Dawn of the Dead is my favorite. Even if the zombies were very cheap looking. Day was good though. I even know a woman that played one of the zombies in Day. Her hand is the one that rips out the officer's throat near the end.

My favorite zombie movie though is Return of the Living Dead. Best naked zombie scene in film history.

How about horror authors? Though I no longer read fiction I did at one time. My favorite horror author was Poppy Z. Brite. Just loved her work. The last book I read of her's was -Exquisite Corpse-. Great book.

I like the saw movies alot to. My issue with hostel is that their pretty boring. The torture is ok but I've seen more fun stuff in Saw and the porn....well... I'm gay so its pretty damn boring to me XD

For me torture porn isn't horror. It's simply a method of shocking the audience. Which is different then a horror movie. I also just don't much like glorifying torture. I read history, I don't need fictionalized torture.

Suggestion to you Corax. Do not watch Hellraiser 8. It's the worst movie in the series. Sucktastic plot and sucky acting.

Its one of them. There were two released. Hellworld and Deader.

Deader I heard is very good but I can't attest to the truth to that because i have not seen it yet.

I'm mostly into stuff like The Romero Zombie saga, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Michael Bay can suck my dick!), House of 1000 corpses & Devil's Rejects. Saw, Hostel, Anything by Troma Studios, All the classic Universal monster movies, Anything by Full Moon Studios... I could go on & on. My Dvd collection is extensive. All horror & comedy. One single chick flick.. I was weak.
