My favorite band is The Raconteurs.

That was pretty good, but I still like Take On Me better.
..though Ah-Ha isn't post-rock is it? In fact, I can safely say I know nothing about that genre... well, guess I'll go music exploring!

Belle Orchestre: the video doesn't really do her justice, but Sarah Neufield's hot.

Oh yay!

Try out some Maserati, or The Album Leaf, but definitely Sigur Ros. They're pretty much the definition of post-rock, and one of the genre's biggest acts. 65daysofstatic is worth looking at, too, but they aren't strictly post-rock. And if you're more into harder stuff try Pelican, or Isis.

I could probably come up with more, but that's what I've got in easy reach at the moment. Another good way to genre browse is to go to wikipedia and just do a search for the genre you're interested in. Also, you could try last.fm and use their genre radio, or type in a band you like and listen to similar artists.

PS. if 65daysofstatic rocks your socks (or even if it doesn't), check out the Ghosts EP by Nine Inch Nails

Post rock? Only one band.

MONO.

Japanese group, incredible musicians, entirely instrumental epic music. Long pieces, incredibly intricate and detailed, build to startling intensity. Supposedly ridiculously loud in concert.

From glasgow, yes I met them while visiting my sister, I simply pointed that Godspeed! and their other bands are canadian and have such an influence on the whole genre

Yeah, I imagined that was what you were getting at, I just thought it a bit funny the way you said "all the great bands are canadian" right after mentionning a Scottish band! But yeah, those Canucks do seem to post-rock out an awful lot.
