Heeey, someone remembers!

Yes, I still have The Torch and it actually sets things on fire without needing any sort of magnifying lens. I've never bothered to try finding out what happens if I ran it through a really big lens, though.

My lights that aren't completely novelty-type are bright enough to be painful, but not really igniferous, I'm afraid. :)

I have a dark metallic Zippo with "Veni, Vidi, Vici" engraved on the front. It's an L class. I never knew what that meant until now.

update! The letter on the bottom has nothing to do with the quality of the lighter. They go A-L and it's for which month it was made in. A = jan, B = feb and so on.

eg one with a C was made in march, one with a D april.

My mistake. That's what I get for skimming the rest of the thread before replying.

SO.

This is not really a Zippo (my actual Zippo is just a normal, Satin Chrome one, so what's the point in pictures?), but it sort of looks like a Zippo and I'm curious to see if any of you know what the fuck it is. My dad got it from somewhere or another and let me have it.

I'm sure you can't tell because of the shitty picture quality, but in the center of the star on the emblem is a Hammer and Sickle. Underneath that are some words in Russian, but fuck if I know what they say. I can only tell you that the first one is spelled "K, Upside-Down L Block from Tetris, 6" and the second is spelled "C, C, C, P." The body is wrapped in what's probably pleather, and there's a tiny, plastic wheel on the bottom, the purpose it serves being unbeknownst to me.

So does anyone have any idea on what this fucker is, exactly?

Plastic wheel adjusts flame level, or rather, the amount of fuel that goes through. From that picture of the flame, it looks like butane, but I'm not sure.

T'is. Looks exactly like the flame from the Zippo BLUs (except for not being blue), which is also a butane lighter.

All my Zippos are down in Stafford, in need of moving. But I'm guessing that they would be pretty crap 'case they are quite cheap. I will be getting a decent one when I can afford it. Problem is that Zippos don't like me and seem to enjoy breaking more than anything!

From here it looks kind of tacky, but I'm sure in person it looks much better. I would love to have a lighter from the Soviet Union (Or KGB, specifically!)

My best friend carried a zippo with him every day. In a little leather pouch on his belt. He passed away last summer and I ended up with his zippo. It has a L on the bottom.

True story. When my friend died, I flew home to go to the funeral and to help my friends (his roommates) pack up his things. I found his zippo on the night table next to a pack of his cigarettes. Benson & Hedges. He was the only person I knew that smoked them. So i grabbed one of his smokes and lit it with his zippo and sat on his bed and had my moment. I kept the zippo as memento of my friend.

This is the last time this zippo lit. I lit my smoke with it... and now it doesnt work.

So thats my zippo story.
