New Members Start Here: Frequently Asked Questions& DVD info

Postby Matt » 07 Jul 2009, 11:33

What is "LoadingReadyRun"?

LoadingReadyRun is a sketch comedy site based out of Victoria, BC, Canada. It predates both Youtube and 4Chan, and the crew is not at all bitter about receiving less attention and success than those. You can find out more from the Crew and History of LoadingReadyRun pages on the wiki, or from the About Us page on the main site. Also be sure to check out their extensive back catalog of videos.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Where can I get the LRR Ringtone?

Thanks to the efforts of the LRR fandom, there are several LRR-tunes suitable for ringtones available on the wiki.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Why the C64 theme?
To put it simply: The crew is a bunch of unashamed geeks. Would you rather it was penrose-tiles themed?

----------------------------------------------------------------

Where are the Season One Videos?

Most of the season one videos are not currently on the website. This is for a couple of reasons. One, the quality of season one is rather hit and miss. Two, several videos contain copyrighted music and can not be externally hosted. And three, in order to resurrect these seasons, many videos would have to be re-constructed from scratch, by Graham. The season one videos were previously available on the season one DVD, however said DVD is out of print and will likely not be brought back. It is possible that a George Lucas'd version or a "Best Of" may be printed in the future if other season sets sell well.
----------------------------------------------------------------

What equipment is used to produce the videos?

Magic, More Magic, and various trinkets listed on the equipment page. Most likely a healthy dose of Phail too, considering what the crew has accomplished despite their immense laziness.

Basics:
Camera: Sony HDR-FX1 MiniDV
Boom Mic: RODE VideoMic, RODE Boompole and RODE Deadcat windscreen
Lights: 250/500W Construction Floodlights
Computer: iMac G5 / Intel MacBook.
Software: Final Cut Pro / iMovie / Adobe Premiere
Output: 853x480 DV Widescreen, FLV codec.

----------------------------------------------------------------

How can I be in a video?

If you want to be in a video, and are in the area, or otherwise want to help out with the site, you can contact Graham by clicking on his picture on the "About Us" page on the main site, or drop him a pm on the forums. Be sure to have an idea of what you can do to help though, you aren't just going to magically show up in a video.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I have a hilarious idea for a video that you should make!

Great, post it in the Video Suggestion forum or email Graham. You will of course be credited if they do use your idea.

----------------------------------------------------------------

What does the version number in the title mean?

The format of the version number is <season>.<revision>, So version 6.0 means its the first version of the site during the sixth season, whereas before it was v5.5, or the fifth update of the fifth season. Minor updates only increase the revision number by one, while major updates and site redesigns will skip a couple revision numbers. You can read Paul's explanation here.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I have money to burn, and I want to help out the site. How can I best do this?

While the crew does not officially accept donations, they do offer a selection of both t-shirts, and DVDs in the store. Or you can wait until the next Desert Bus for Hope Charity Gaming Marathon starts (November 2009), and give your money to Child's Play in exchange for favours from the crew.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Currently only Season 4 DVDs are available in the store! How do I buy older seasons?

You don't! Currently we only have Season 4 in print, though Season 5 is forthcoming. However, sales of these DVDs will go a long way towards helping us finance printing runs of the older seasons. We will probably never do a full reprint of season 1, but if you'd like to see seasons 2 and 3 re-released, the best way to ensure that they are is to buy a copy of Season 4 and of Season 5, when it becomes available. (soon).

----------------------------------------------------------------

How tall is Bill?
Bill is 6' 10" or 2.08 meters. He does not play Basketball.

LRR videos actually get exported in 853x480 (widescreen!), so that might be worth updating.
Special People: Superhero-with-a-twist web fiction, updating twice weekly.
Losing Freight: A sci-fi serial where readers vote on daily polls to shape the future of the story!

Widescreen is winscreen.

Also, you forgot to link to Paul's explanation of the version numbers (here). Considering I just re-worded that post for the wiki, I don't know if you need the link, but if you're keeping the sentence, you might as well actually link it.

I'm sorry Bill, :(

But you are too tall and too Canadian to be an Astronaut in NASA.

And even though I spent minimal effort searching I could not find the height requirements for other space agencies.

As a side note I find it hilarious that the minimum height requirements for Pilots are higher than for mission specialists. I'm sure there's a good reason... but it's still funny.
My train of thought is more like a roller coaster that has loop de loops and no safety bars.
I don't know if I'm tall enough to ride.

I knew Bill's name and the story behind that even before Desert Bus, but its come such a tradition now that I think we should keep doing it during Desert Bus. Especially since I, for one, can never remember it, although I know I have it written down here somewhere.......

I am so glad I bought a copy of the first three seasons when they were available. They are hit and miss (though the pumpkin-head video by itself was worth the price), but it's fun going through each of the seasons, because you can really see how much they've grown and evolved. The camera work is much better, and Paul in particular has grown as an actor.

I agree. We have met Bill's mom on the DBFH chat and on the driver feed. She is too nice a woman to be that cruel in naming her child, regardless of paternal influence.

Indeed.

If you ever doubt that season 4 is the best of all of them, watch the whole thing on DVD at once.

I'm pretty sure that he went and did it on his own before she could say anything (and gave him the William middle name because he knew she liked it). I seem to remember that from DBFH2. Maybe if he really was the sixth of his name, why wouldn't he want to continue it on? Who's to say?

I think how it went was "the 7th" isn't actually part of his name, but the first name his father gave him was given the firstborn male for the past 6 generations or so.

Regardless, his real name is Billiam William Jiggawatt, and anyone who says otherwise is an utter fool.

You know, technically anything can be counted as an unofficial name, nickname or petname if it is used frequently enough by enough people... I can infer things such as this as I am a meek, defenceless little girl on another continent and therefore have no need to fear the repercussions

No idea what's actually going on in this cutscene, but it doesn't seem like the developers really knew either.
