Desert Bus 3 Craft-Along Auction Items

Postby tak197 » 27 Aug 2009, 09:17

Are you making items for the Crew to auction off or give away for Child's Play during Desert Bus For Hope? Are you an interested buyer in these wonderful products from Runners Designs LLC? Then this is the thread for you! Please post pictures and descriptions of the items you made for the Crew to auction off. That way we know what we need to save up money for.

Also, email [email protected] AND [email protected] to tell them what you are sending in so they have a full catalogue.

Additionally, if you are contributing items to the auction, please e-mail myself and kathleen directly to let us know so we can catalogue it.

Thanks!

Any rough timeframe on this or is it just a bookkeeping thing so you're somewhat prepared?

Also, do you know if you're still planning on auctioning custom art like when Tensen (I think) offered to make posters upon request? There was early talk of cookies in the Craft-along thread...

I want to offer something for teh craft-along, since I have no way of donating actual money.... but I have no idea what I would do. Also, this will be my first DB so I'm not entirely sure on protocol and precedents

Mimm, for the basic concept of DBFH, go to the website. As for precedents and protocol, answer this question: What would I want to bid on for the kids? If you keep it LRR centered and generally kickass, then you will be good. Oh and keep it legal (so no weapons, kiddie porn [that means Rags], or bootleg Viagra). Seeing as you do really good cartooning of the Crew, you could offer limited edition art (ask Tensen02 for advice on this).

I am starting to get into bookbinding, which is why I'm doing some of the stuff I'm doing.

My current Desert Bus for Hope items for auction or give-away (at LRR crew's discretion); DVD included in pictures for scale:
1)Story Guy doll with kit
Image
2)The Truce doll set, includes Warriors of Darkness and Steve. Auction set is approx 80% complete, looks similar to prototype set shown here, and seen in recent videos, except with more props.
Image
3)Loading Ready Lace scarf (size after blocking, 6.5 ft long, 10 inches wide) My current avatar is a close-up of the LRR logo lace motif.
Image
4)Chain Chomp Hat (with removable chain), best fit for Women's med/lg or Men's sm/med head.

There may be other items, time and materials permitting. Is there a deadline for submissions?

OMGItsSarah and I have some (UNFINISHED) plushies that will be donated for auction, and details will be posted once they are complete. I'm also going to try and figure out a couple other things to make, just for the hell of it. Oh! And I made these earrings as an homage to the DB air freshener:

They will also be donated for auctioning.

I wish that chain chomp hat would fit my fat head, but sm/med isn't for me :(

It's SO RAD though, and is everything else in this thread.

The hat's a tight fit for my annoyingly large head, which is why I've suggested the smaller sizes. FYI, I have enough of the yarn on hand to make another hat if people would prefer to have a larger size available as well. It's a pretty quick knit.

Also, I'm pretty sure I offered my services to the LRR/DBfH crew in the craft-along thread. If you want something for yourself just let me know... it seems a fair exchange for all these videos and bonus content 8)

I could make something... I'm not sure what though. I can knit and crochet and stuff, but I'm reallllyyyy bad at finishing stuff. I could sew up a tote bag of some sort if people would be interested in that.

Oh my god. If I didn't already have my own (potentially expensive) challenge in mind for the crew I'd be saving up to bid on that Story Guy doll w/ kit. That's fantastic.

On the other hand, if you're going to be there, you'll have to opportunity to play with them firsthand and surely have the opportunity to steal them when no one's looking at 3 am!

I'm sure there are lots of people around here who would bid on a Desert Bus screensaver or desktop.

I'm not really any good at crafting, and I don't have any money to donate. Would anyone be interested in this: I'll write the fanfic of the bidder's choice.

Checking if people would be interested, I know what I could do.

All i'd need is a picture or still image of a person, and I could create a Pop art style portrait of them.

Some examples of ones I've done in the past.
http://mad-madam-mimm.deviantart.com/art/Marx-Brothers-pop-art-canvas-135039505
http://mad-madam-mimm.deviantart.com/art/Eddie-Izzard-Pop-art-canvas-135039358

These are on box canvas, but I could do them on board canvas or paper. Woudl anyone be interested?

I think that would be really cool actually. While it may be more expensive, I'd say go with canvas board just so it travels better. Just know that you would probably need to pay a hell of a lot of shipping, but if you find out prices, you could make sure that the bidding starts out at at least that much. That all said, talk to the crew to see how they want you to do this.
